I scheduled a 4 day golf outing with 8 guys. The resort has gotten great reviews so we thought this would be a great place.
We booked a 5 BR home and guaranteed 8 beds. On arrival, we had 7 beds. They considered the sofabed to be one of the beds. For a mere $3000 we could change. Nice! In addition, several of the reservations were lost.
Heading to the showers there are only 2 towels per bedroom for a total of 6 (in a 5 bed room home). Call the front desk and 4 more towels are delivered promptly. The next day they took all the towels (including mine out of the bedroom) and we are stuck with 6 towels again. Finally, on the last evening, I left a note to leave extra towels in each of the bathroom sinks. We also hoarded a few extra towels.
Additional problems included no detergent for the dishwasher and other missing items.
Now for the saddest issue. The golf courses were in the worst shape of any I've played in years. The worst local muni course would be better. Their explanation was the drought. We played a few of the local courses during this trip and they were in prestine condition. The fairways were hard as a rock and most had no grass on them. The greens were not as bad.
Golf was included in our package, the normal rate would have been $165. If I paid that price, I would ask for my money back. The beverage cart was very slow on most of our days.
Prices were typical of this style of resort, incredibly high. They include a 20% tip on everything. Everyone was very nice.
This is our annual golf outing and no one wants to go back. We spent over $10,000 between the 8 of us. It would have been nice if they had notified us the courses were in such sad shape.
Next year we'll be back to a truly good experience, The Grand Cypress Resort!
