Located in the center of Manhattan in the area known as Gramercy. The rooms are equipped with the essentials and are similar to a New York apartment, including bay windows, bare brick walls, art deco radiators and colourful prints, and the restof the hotel continues in this designer theme. There are some great photographs and original works of popular art on each floor, which are worth taking a look at. Although it can be more like a museum than a hotel, it is one of the places to stay for up and coming artists, writers and actors.

Good
For it's great price, The Gershwin Hotel was a fantastic choice. I stayed in New York City for a week with my Mom over the summer. THe room was pretty small, and the bathroom was very small but we didn't need anything extravagant. I would not...
I enjoyed the Warhol-like decor in the hallways, the hardwood floors (instead of other hotels' generic carpeting that never seems really clean, the European feel. My family of four stayed in one of the family suites. My sons appreciated having the

Horrible
I liked that it was in midtown Manhattan.I disliked that it was dingy, weird, nasty and poorly maintained.“Awful, we stayed only a short time and then left. I was shocked and dismayed by the room we were given. Very small room, poorly maintained,...
53 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
We wound up here because the place was recommended to my sister whom we were visiting. It's terrible. Dingy, dark, small rooms and beds, beat up and poorly painted, macabre and vulgar art work, dry rot, stained ceiling and unpainted construction repairs. I'd call it a fleabag flop house. I've really never seen anything this bad in our many miles of travel. There wasn't even room to open our suitcases and still get in bed. We stayed thirty minuted and then escaped. Anyone with reasonable expectations and personal standards will not be happy with this place.

Okay
The Gershwin hotel is not as nice as their description lets on, but it was fine for what we needed it and it served its purpose to us. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. It bowed in the middle and my husband and I were continuously rolling...
Good location, clean room, bed was comfortable, and the hotel felt very safe. (there was quite a bit of street noise in my room.) I would definitely recommend the Gershwin for anyone looking for a budget hotel in a great location.

Good
A really hip, fun, funky hotel downtown that is perfect for the "not your typical tourist kind of place". The staff is clean cut and multi lingual with a real sense of fun. Nearby the Museum and great shopping with fantastic diners and shops nearby. ...
