We arrived to Atlantic City at about 2:00 AM on February 26, 1949, following a wedding reception in Philadelphia. We had not reserved a booking, so were riding around looking for a likely location. We came upon this impressive building, and ventured inside, to ask if there were any vacancies. The sleepy clerk came to life, and gave us a choice of three available rooms, all of which were more luxurious than we expected. A private bath, television set, and very modest pricing made our week completely comfortable. The daily service was great, and we were surrounded by helpful staff. Unforgettable? You bet!
