44 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

Remember this telling sign - There are no pictures of the rooms on their web page. This resort is showing its age. The rooms are a giant step back into the 1950's.

Room - was very small with two double beds. Bathroom was extremely small and the sink was in another combination closet/sink room.

Cleanliness - At first glance they seem clean, but the longer you look, the more things stand out. They are numerous stains on the carpet. We went out on the balcony and there were beer cans from the prior patron. The bathroom floor needed to be mopped.

Maintenance - This was probably the biggest shortcoming. Sink did not drain well. Tub was clogged with hair and soup scum (It took me about 30 minutes clean out), smoke detector was missing its battery, peeling wall paper.

Security - non-existent - no deadbolts, simple knob locks. No sprinklers systems. Best I could tell they never locked the entrances.

HVAC - Ran the entire time we were there, but never cooled below 80's.

Common Grounds - Pretty run down. Not enough parking. The beach they refer to on their web page is a public beach.

Overall - We were booked for 2 nights, but decided to check out after one. There are better places in Okoboji.

40 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

For the price and the location I can't recommend a better place to stay. After a day on the water I prefer the rooms with 2nd floor balconies overlooking the strip where one can see the nightlife of Okoboji come alive or watch the sunset across the lake. It is located right at the bridge between the East and West and within easy walking distance of the Emporium, Arnold's Park, multiple nightspots and restaurants. The rooms have basic amenities, including refrigerator, microwave, 2 sinks and 2 double beds. Cosmetically it could use some updating but after 4 years of staying I have noticed improvements each year. So for a place to lay your head each night that is easy on the pocketbook, I would recommend the Four Seasons.

59 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

I stayed at the Four Seasons 8/30 - 9/2. This is an older property and while it could use some upgrading, I found it very comfortable, clean, and friendly. No bugs, mold, or plumbing problems. Beds were comfortably firm, room had a refrig, microwave, and bar sink. There is no internet or pool - but hey you are on the lake. All rooms are 2 double beds. I read the 3 horrible reviews and freaked. I checked with the C of C and they said they had never had a complaint about the Four Seasons. I checked with a friend from the region who had stayed there and he said, "don't worry its ok." It was. It was a very good value compared to other motels on Labor Day weekendd. The restaurant is reasonable in price, good service, and food was just fine. There are 2 or 3 other restaurants within one block. I plan to stay there again next year. As I was checking out a couple was making reservations for next year. If you want fancy, hi-class, and perfect go elsewhere. If you want, clean, comfortable, and affordable, I recommend Four Seasons. I'll be back next year.

56 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

We reserved a room for one night at this motel several months ago. This was our first visit to the Okoboji area. We travel quite a bit, and this by far was the worst room we have ever spent the night in, especially for the price - over $150.00 including taxes. Even for free we wouldn't have stayed there had we another option- every place in town was full. We rejected the first room we were given as the smell of must and mold just about knocked us over as we opened the door. We moved to another room, which wasn't much better. I am surprised the health deartment has not closed this place down!

The first room we were given had a plumbing problem. When I was sitting on the toilet, the room above flushed theirs and the contents came down on my head! We requested another room and was given one that the owner admitted later had not been cleaned for four months. The smell of mold was overpowering, the bath mat had black mold around it with bugs crawling around, the wallpaper was coming off the wall and hanging in sheets, the linens were old and suspect. We had made our reservation at least 6 weeks before our arrival, yet we were given a room that was a health hazard. The entire building is in great need of cleaning and repair. Our charge of $152.90 including tax made the seem outrageous.
