57 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for business
I am a business traveller who has been on the road 50 weeks a year for 10 years, and this is without qualification the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Yes, there is a pool, but other important services are seriously lacking. There is no guest laundry, so you are forced to either use their expensive cleaning service or drive to Berkeley and find a laundromat. Food service is minimal with a barren menu and severly limited hours of operation. If you want dinner, you have to eat in the hotel lobby because the restaurant is not open in the evening.
In the course of just a few weeks, I have endured the following: room left unsecured by housekeeping (door not latched), broken air conditioner, no phone for an entire day because they refused to fix it when reported, vending machines going unserviced and left empty for weeks on end (there has been been no diet soda for three weeks), no hot water in the morning for shower.
If you think you might like any of the above, or if the idea walking down the hallway and listening to couples copulating through the non-existent sound-proofing excites you, then by all means stay here, but otherwise, you might want to give it a pass.
On a positive note, the staff are very friendly and apologetic, but then, they have a lot to apologize for.
