Location: Right in the middle of The Strip, so you definitely feel that you have access to other hotels (Venetian, Caesar's, Harrah's) and shopping (Sephora, The Fashion Show Mall). However, the hotel casino did not feel mobbed by droves of people. But if you feel like being part of the action, you only need to step out onto the street and you're right in the middle of everything.
Amenities: We upgraded to a Go Room, and it was excellent. Not too small, not too big. Decor was fun, both retro and modern. Ipod dock connected to the flat screen tv and speakers, so you have the ability to get the party started right in your room. Bathroom has built-in TV as well, and though I didn't use it, it felt cool knowing that such a "pimped out" feature was available. Wish the bathroom had a tub, though.
Service: Partying got a little heavy on first night there, so the room was in a shambles the next day. However, maid service took care to restore the room to its original state, which was very nice. Would have liked more towels in the room, but other than that, no complaints. Room service was prompt and the food was good.
Pool: Get in line early if you want prime real estate (i.e., pool chairs with sun and easy access to the pools), and by early we're talking 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. Keep in mind, you're not allowed in the water 'till 9:00a.m. If you're there with a group or another person, you can always send someone down to put some towels down and mark your territory. Pool crowd is quite diverse. You have everything from the weight-challenged 60 year olds to the waifs, young 20-somethings, and everything in between. All in all, pool scene is low key if you're there early (between 8:00 and noon). Can't vouch for the afternoon scene, though. Another cool thing to the pool: a sandy beach located near the pool area, which is nice for those who just want to sun bathe.
FYI - I am in my early 30's, when I go to Vegas, it's to drink, chill at the pool, go out to clubs, eat at nice restaurants, do very little gambling, and lots of shopping. For me, Vegas is a grown-ups paradise, so I am leery of the kid factor. There were kids at the Flamingo, but you didn't feel overrun by them. I would definitely go back to the Flamingo and stay in one of their Go Rooms again.
