Mid-tier Reno Stay. I stayed at Fitzgerald's when we couldn't find a room anywhere else in town. The place is a bit dingy, the staff kind of sullen and grumpy, the rooms nothing special, and the place felt just kind of blah. The elevator to go from the casino upstairs to the rooms is notoriously slow. One funny bit about the place is the guy in the Leprechaun suit standing outside on the corner ringing the bell and speaking Irish, trying to get people to come inside.

We go to Reno, Nevada several times each year to visit friends and on occasions we stay at the Fitzgeralds hotel. We have always had good service from them. They have the best location for things we do in Reno.

The only problem with the Fitzgeralds hotel in Reno is the slow elevators.

Old school casino charm

Great hotel for the price. The hotel and casino are a bit scrappy, but clean and very friendly staff. The crap tables have old school rules (ex: no setting the dice) and the dealers are great. The rooms are good size and comfortable. The room service leaves something to be desired ... but what the heck, your in Reno so get out of your room and down to the casino and get stinkin' lucky!

We always stay at the Fitzgerald's Hotel and Casino when we go to Reno because they treat us like important friends.

It is a nice place to stay. The hotel staff is friendly and most have been there for years. The bar and the grill on the second floor have the best food and service.

If you are looking for a presidential suite in a lah-te-dah upscale hotel, skip over the Fitz. If you're looking for a clean, comfortable room and a great place to eat and gamble that is affordable, Fitz is the place for you.
We have stayed about 10 times, maybe more so far. We are planning to go back in April for a slot tournament we are very excited about.
The accommodations are comfortable, the beds are nice and firm and very comfy, and the rooms are very clean. The staff is more than willing to help, I've never had a bad experience other than occasional language barrier.
I would recommend this hotel to a person on a moderate budget who would like keep cash in his/her pocket for the ride home.
The only draw back is the Fitz does not offer their own shuttle service from the airport. Take the El Dorado or Circus Circus shuttle.

It was just awful

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The parking garage is filthy and horrible to access. Our car was parked a block away from the hotel.
The hotel itself downstairs is OK, in the casino area, just try to get up one of the three junky elevators as they creak and whine. Be prepared to wait 5+ minutes, then when you get to the room it is stinky and old smelling. The toilet didn’t flush 2 out of every 3 times. The shower was either too hot or too cold, they have signs posted in the room telling you they wish you to re-use the towels and if they are not thrown in the tub you will not get clean ones.
The breakfast food was hard, cold, and twice-stale, and dinner was OK at best.
Never again will I stay at this hotel, at $138.00 per night, no thank you. I will stay at the Cockroach Inn and save some money next time if I want this kind of service, it was no better than Motel 6.

The hotel isn't too bad - we are usually comfortable there. We have stayed there several times before and found the service and accommodations to be very adequate.

The hotel is not on the Strip, so you need transportation.
