with a budget, traveling for leisure

The internet says that Hemlock Cabin is their newest cabin. Well, I don't know when they put that on the web but Hemlock Cabin is by no means new. For $435.oo a night for a two bedroom cabin I certainly expected better accomodations. The bedrooms are pitiful. Each has a king bed which is really two twin mattresses put together with a king mattress pad and a king fitted sheet. Speaking of the sheets-they are so thin you can practically see through them. There is also a single bed in each bedroom which is 1 of 2 bunk beds which have been separated. The place has more rules and regulations than you can imagine. The kitchen is stocked with the cheapest yard sale untensils, etc possible. They require that you wash all dishes however no dishwasher is provided. The views from the deck are minimal and the railing around the deck is rotting with moss growing on it. Also they have chicken wire around the deck for safety reasons, I presume. The guy that checked us in made a big deal out of the bonfire that would be lit each night. We were there two nights and no bonfire yet. I certainly would not recommend this place to anyone.

21 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

My boyfriend and I have very busy lives and hardly get to relax. We went to Fire mountain for Memorial Day weekend. We immediately knew we'd picked the perfect spot to get a way. We stayed in the Inn which had lovely views plenty of space and patios with views of the sunrise and sunset. (And hammocks)

We also went on a few of the nature hikes which were so much fun. Everynight there was a bonfire were the other couples brought bottles of wine etc. We had quiet picnics, played games from the media room, and went to amazing restaurants in downtown.

This is definitely a place that we will visit again!

62 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

Fire Mountain is a great place to relax which provides a quiet enviroment with a caring staff who keep things clean and in order without intruding or bothering guests. We has visited Fire Mountain in both Spring and Fall and find the sunsets and other views great for photography. We appreciate the care with which the accommodations and grounds are kept and the way the guests are treated. WE hope to continue to visit on a regular basis.

I am very likely to return to the Fire Mountain Inn.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

43 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

My husband I just returned from Fire Mountain and the first words out of my mouth this morning were, "I wish we were still there!"

It was a peaceful, magical, and fabulous time. The room, Red Thunder was prefect...cozy...romantic...and beautifully decorated!

We love Mark and Matthew...their breakfasts were too die for!

The common room...with the fireplace...laden with books was a favorite of ours.

We hiked...walked...sat by a roaring bonfire...watched sunsets...built snowmen... and had a memorable time.

Our last two days we had the Inn to ourselves...and so when Mark came to cook our breakfast...we had him all to ourselves...

he made us international delights! We chatted and had a delightful time...

Mark also helped us with our day trips...he was better then AAA!!!! We loved Gorge Road...ask him about it!

We will go back...

it will not be soon enough for us!

As for the comment from the woman above...we have pictures of the sunsets...that we took from OUR ROOM!!!!!

We love you guys!!!

We loved Fire Mountain!!! We had such a good time we decided to come back home and post a review! How many times have I done that?? Never!! If you want relaxation, a posh cabin or inn room, and serene panoramic views close to the city of Highlands, N.C. this is your place! Their breakfast is to die for!!! I just can't say enough. This is a must for anyone looking for a romantic getaway, a chill out weekend, or just an excuse to get away. I even ordered a massage which made the weekend complete! You will not be disappointed!! Very trendy but comfortable..I know we will be going back. We plan to go up every couple of months. Highly recommended!
