Goldcrest was purchased by the neighboring Ferrari's Crown Motel and is a dump. We requested a standard room at Ferrari's Crown but conveniently got "Upgraded" to a partial-lake-view room in the older Gold Crest motel building.
Our room was made out the old motel office and was right next door to the breakfast area (we shared a wall with the kitchen), so every morning we woke to the smell of burned toast and loud vacationers.
The front door didn't seal, so the cold 30 degree air came in and the cracks were big enough to see through. The toilet would hardly flush and ran constantly. The bathroom was from 1960 with pink tile and a showerhead that spat water from a height of 5 feet. (I'm 6' tall, so I had to squat in the shower). The heater was like starting a jet engine and woke us up every 45 minutes. The bed was hard as a rock and sloped towards your head. Pillows were like pancakes, make that rock-hard pancakes! No iron, no internet cord in room, no ice.
Be sure to request one of the Ferrari's Crown rooms and not a former Gold Crest room. There is a huge difference in quality, but not in price!
