Overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the rugged Mendocino coast from several tree-lined pastoral acres, Fensalden Inn offers a quiet respite and relaxing atmosphere for the perfect getaway. A former Wells Fargo Stagecoach Way Station built in the mid 1800s, the Inn has been completely renovated and continues to offer a restful, home-like setting for the traveler.
There are eight romantic accommodations, each with gas or wood burning fireplace, several with balcony or porch overlooking the ocean or gardens, as well as bar refrigerators with complimentary bottle of wine upon arrival; two suites, one with kitchen, one with canopy bed; a Bungalow with Jacuzzi bathtub and full kitchen. All are tastefully decorated with antique furnishings, private baths with tiled showers.
A complete gourmet breakfast is served each morning in the Tavern Room. Join us for wine and hors d'oeuvres in the afternoon as the whales pass by saluting us with their spouts. Smile at the distinctive waddle of the covey of quail as they come to feed, or join Bob as he takes the pygmy goats and ducks for a stroll in the afternoon, as you watch the spectacular sunset.
The main building includes four common rooms for our guests' use. The wood-burning fireplace in the entry parlor is complimented by antiques, a pewter collection and Oriental rugs. The Tavern Room offers a conversation area overlooking the ocean where guests can socialize in front of a wood burning stove, and enjoy wine and hors d'oeuvres as they watch the humming birds feed, and are awed by the sunset over the ever changing sea.
The dining area of the Tavern Room features an antique walnut table, which seats 12. Here we serve a complete breakfast, with champagne on Sundays. This table is well suited to boardroom style workshops or meetings. The glass enclosed Sunroom overlooking the ocean may be arranged for private parties or meetings of up to 32 people. Here, in this pristine, pastoral setting, business people may hold executive retreats, meetings or seminars, away from the noise and distraction of the urban office milieu, and writers find a haven for creativity. The adjoining Library is a fully equipped office with FAX, copier, printer, and wireless internet is available throughout the property. Audio/visual equipment is available upon request.
Historic Mendocino village, long known for its fine dining, art galleries and elegant shops, is just minutes north of Fensalden Inn. Nearby Anderson Valley, a pleasant drive through towering redwood forests, is home to some of the finest wineries in the West, with tasting rooms and dining available. Canoeing, kayaking, sport fishing, horseback riding, hiking, golf, tennis, beach combing and shopping are among the many daytime activities available. In the evening, fine dining abounds, and concerts and plays offer cultural entertainment.
The Mendocino coast is one of the most beautiful natural settings in the world. It is the perfect romantic setting to enjoy yourself with someone you love. Come visit Fensalden Inn,
