49 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

It is a very basic hotel with very nice rooms but there is no restaurant. They only serve breakfast in a small room near the front door. It is a great place to stay if you are not interested in the hotel, only in the sleeping conditions which are excellent.

This hotel made me feel comfortable: I was made to feel comfortable through the use of the furniture and the bed.

I am somewhat likely to return to the Farmington Inn.
I might recommend it to friends.

58 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

First, the good part: They had a very attractive lobby with fresh-baked cookies, a nice breakfast, thick towels and pretty prints on the room's walls.

Now the rest: Room 109 smelled strongly of what must have been new carpet. Since I have difficulty breathing, I requested another room and was told none were available. The room itself was a disappointment. Imagine expecting a four-poster and being greeted by exposed box springs that announce "Contract Division, King Koil". I was told by the lady at the desk that all the beds in this inn had exposed box springs. Imagine! The rest of the furniture, some pieces quite beat up, was also labeled as "Contract furniture".

The bathroom had not been thoroughly cleaned. The tub had some of the previous occupant's hair in it, and the commode had a water ring. The sheets had the kind of vertical crinkles that come only from being slept on. The paint on the bathroom door was chipped in many places. I saw no Belgian linens, antiques, or featherbeds. When I had gotten into bed and my husband was showering, I noticed that he had not closed the curtain on the window, which looked out on a parking lot. When I tried to close it, I couldn't. The curtain would not close because the track stopped on left hand side before the window did. I called the front desk about this problem and was told that they did have another room. Since it was so late and we were both ready for bed, I declined this belated offer. I propped the curtain shut by putting the ironing board atop the inverted waste basket. The next day, $17 was taken from our bill because of the condition of the room. We were also told that that particular room was "Due for renovation". Why then were we put in it? We were told that we would be automatically upgraded to a suite "next time" at no additional charge. It's a long way from here to Connecticut, and I doubt that we will be back to take them up on that offer.

I am not likely to return to the Farmington Inn.
I would not recommend it to friends.

33 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

We had about 40 of our wedding guests stay at The Farmington Inn in June 2005. From the first to the last interaction, we found everyone at the hotel to be very pleasant and accommodating, including Carter and the front desk staff. They answered all of my questions, gave us a reasonable group rate, helped us keep track of the incoming reservations, and handed out gift bags. They even gave us use of one of the meeting rooms as a place to gather after the reception and continue to celebrate, and they took receipt of about 12 large pizzas that arrived before we got back from the reception. At the time, the bridal suite was being renovated, but the suite that we had instead was beautiful- with a fantastic, super-comfy four-poster bed, nice sitting area, and spacious bathroom. The standard rooms that some of our guests opted for did not have four-poster beds or a sitting area, but were nice. All of our guests (about 19 rooms worth) commented on what a lovely place it was and how much they enjoyed their stay. Even after the wedding weekend was over, Carter was very helpful in addressing a billing question I had. Before booking our rooms, I had read some of the more negative reviews on other websites, and I have to say, our personal experience at The Farmington Inn was wonderful from start to finish!

I am very likely to return to the Farmington Inn.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

The four poster beds were the most comfortable ever! The staff were very pleasant. The Inn had a homey feel and the smell of fresh perked coffee as you entered the lobby was very welcoming after a long day of travel.

I am very likely to return to the Farmington Inn.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.
