I stayed at the local Fairfield Inn in Moline, Illinois for 3 days while my home was undergoing construction. I chose this hotel because I had been a customer of Marrriott many times in the past, but not at this hotel.
The room was not very clean, it smelled old and musty, the tv did not come in properly. I was basically there to sleep after work and get ready in the morning so I did not complain.
I checked out the 3rd day and got my receipt with the appropriate charge showing.
I was shocked later when I got my credit card statement that showed an additional 250 dollar charge.
I called the hotel to ask about it. The manager Tammy called me back and was very rude. She accused me of smoking in the bathroom. I explained that if I were a person who chose to smoke, I would have made arrangements to stay at one of the other many hotels in the area that allow smoking. She said my room did not smell like smoke, but her housekeeper told her the bathroom did.
Again, I told her I did not smoke. She was extremely rude, and said she will not remove the charge.
I emailed the so called Marriott customer care about it, and they forwarded my email to said manager with the reply that they agree with her the charge will not be removed.
She told me there was a "substance" on the bathroom floor. If indeed there was a substance it may have been the dust from my husbands clothes from doing work on our home that got on the floor when he came to shower.
I will not stay at any of the Marriott properties again, I prefer to stay at hotels that truly value their customers.
