We arrived at our hotel at around 7pm checked in then promptly asked where to find the nearest restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They printed out a list of restaurants with directions on how to get there.
I was a little worried when I didn't see any pamphlets and info in the lobby but the friendly desk clerks gave us all the info we needed on how to get to Manhattan. The bus literally picked us up right out front of the hotel and for a measly $3.40 the 15 minute bus ride took us one block from Times Square. The bus came every 5 mins or so and returned just about as often.
The room, was your average 2 bed room with a television and 1 bathroom with nice granite counter top. The shower was great and there was good shampoo/conditioner, and hand lotion available, also a hairdryer, iron, and ironing board to use. The room also had high speed internet connection but for the little bit of time we spent in the room, we didn't use this. The bottom line is the room was very clean and comfortable for our family of 4.
The best thing was the continental breakfast from 6-10 am. There was plenty of food to go around and a good variety of bagels, toast, croissants, doughnuts, biscuits, cold and hot cereal, yogurt, homemade waffles, fresh fruit, bacon/egg biscuits, coffee, tea, juice, milk..... It was great to fill up before heading in to the city, we usually weren't even hungry until supper time, so this saved us a lot of money on meals.
If you're looking to visit NYC/Manhattan area but don't want to pay the steep hotel prices, and if you don't feel like you want to dare driving in Manhattan then why not park at the Fairfield Inn for free save your money and commute on the bus... What a great way to have a NYC vacation on a budget.
