This was our fourth trip to Gatlinburg, and we've always stayed at the Fabulous Chalet. We love it! The staff is so friendly, and will do all they can to accomodate their guests. The view from our balcony is breathtaking, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. We are looking forward to going back. It's always a "fabulous" experience.

Me and two friends spent the 4th of July Holiday at the Fabulous Chalet Inn and had a great experience. The staff was great. We checked in late and there were several others checking in at the same time along with the phone ringing off the hook and they got us in quick and handled the bustle with great courtesy. The Maid staff was super friendly and even gave us suggestions on stuff to do since it rained. The Continental Breakfast was great, they even had a staff member making fresh waffles for guests with a bar that had fresh toppings for the waffles. The room was clean the view of the creek was refreshing. We even saw a raccoon taking the stairs down to the creek for a swim one night. The hotel sits off the strip so you don't have the noise of people walking and cars tooting. I would definately stay here again given the chance.

Dont believe all that you read about this facility. Many of the bad reviews are from customers that are ill informed. The picture of the river view is actually a shot of the bottom of the mountain/city view. Had this guest bothered to look up with his camera he might have noticed the beautiful mountain view.
They do not charge $15 dollars for a safe that can be picked up and carried off. It is $1 one dollar for the only key and a lock that fits into a safe that is bolted to the floor of the closet.
I have stayed at this Best Western many times and whenever I have had a problem, there was always a member of housekeeping or the people at the front desk that would go the extra mile.
If you want a glass and chrome motel room, go somewhere else. This hotel has class, with rooms right on the Little Pigeon River or rooms with a mountain view, real wood-burning fireplaces, Jacuzzi tubs and private balconies.
I have seen a lady bug or two but that is nothing compared to the wildlife I encountered, wild turkeys, momma bear and cub, and deer. You cannot find wildlife and views like this anywhere else in Gatlinburg short of driving to Cades Cove in the Smokey Mountains.
The breakfast is located in the chalet part of the facility, but there is plenty of parking if you do not, or cannot climb the half block from the river part. The waffles served there are a refreshing change. In addition, you are issued a parking permit that allows you to park for free in five other motels throughout the city. I have never paid to park anywhere in Gatlinburg because of this.
I also like to snow ski and the Fabulous Chalet is very convenient to the Arial Tram for Ober Gatlinburg.

Upon checking into the hotel, we were greeted with friendly staff. That soon changed when we got to our room. It smelled so badly and musty that my guest's allergies went nuts. We had to buy Frebreeze and use a 1/2 bottle in order to get most of it out. If you are staying in the chalet part, please bring clips and garbage bags to cover the windows that go to the exterior. Otherwise, you have peeping toms looking at you while you are taking a shower. They had shutters that did not move on the outside, yet anyone of any height could easily look in. There were hooks where curtains were at, but no where to be found. When we called front desk, they said that there are no curtains on any room.
The room needed a serious makeover. There are old photos and the paneling was falling apart. The room was very small and cramped with two beds, a "sitting area" composed of two worn out chairs and a table in between them right in front of the beds facing the fireplace. There were several missing bricks out of the fireplace and one fell when barely touched. It had not been cleaned. The front desk mentioned at check in that firewood wasn't available until November and that it cost $20 to have it!
The "river side view" was a joke. You could not see the river, but could hear it.
We were also infested with ladybugs in our room. A note was placed on our bed about them and claiming that there is nothing they could do about them.
The towels, sheets, pillows, etc. were handwritten in black ink with their initials. I guess that is what you call a redneck monogram. The towel bar was right beside the toilet, which by the way was so wobbly that you was afraid of it breaking when you sat on it. With the towel bar over your head, you were guaranteed to hit your head each and every time.
The safe that would cost you an additional $15 for a key (plus tax) was not even bolted to the ground. Anyone could take off with it.
The continental breakfast was held in the same building as the chalet, but if you were in the other part of the hotel, you would either have to drive or walk up a very steep hill to get to it.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Finally, when it came time to checkout, I had to stand for fifteen minutes. There was only one desk clerk working and two women just standing there. I thought they were checking out, only to find out they were workers. No one said "May I help you, etc." One that was wearing a Howard Johnson shirt went behind the counter to answer the phone that was ringing off the hook. Finally after I said that I really needed to go, did the desk clerk get off the phone. They need more than one clerk in the mornings, especially on a weekend to get visitors out of there so they can clean the room.
A double king size bedroom in the Chalet with tax for two guests for two nights totaled around $210 (give or take a few dollars). Guests that checked in when we did were told $180 per night for the same chalet type room. Its definitely overpriced and over hyped on their website.
I am not likely
to return to the Fabulous Chalet Inn.
I would not recommend it to friends.

The ice machine did not work. The housekeeping staff only did a partial job. The air conditioner kept one room cool the rest hot. The floor was about to fall in. The lighting left a lot to be desired.
The crew that took care of the continental breakfast was great.

Very disappointed. Rooms were not very clean, smelled, bathroom was terrible, drain clogged. Staff was not helpful or friendly. There is nothing "Fabulous" about this place. Very high price for this dive.

My wife and I stayed here for our first anniversery. We just absolutly loved it, it wasn't too far from the town but far enough for some privacy. the staff was great and very helpful. everything was clean and in order we will definitely stay here again.

The chalet rooms were ok. The air conditioned one room of the 4 rooms. So the sleeping area had to be cold to make the sitting area bearable. Floor is sagging badly. Contential Breakfast was worthless, unless you like waffles. Ice machine did...
