bates motel without the charm

We were traveling with a youth sports team. When we couldn't find the hotel we called, and were told it is located behind the abandoned building. It went down hill from there.
Our first room smelled like smoke and disinfectant. It was making us sick. We switched rooms and the second room, while it didn't smell as bad, had badly soiled carpet and furniture. The place was filled with mainly out of town workmen, some of whom spent Saturday drinking in the parking lot.
There was nothing for the kids to do and no one would let their children travel the building or grounds alone. A number of families left; simply going home or finding other places to stay.
Simply put, the place was was unsecure and disgusting.

I had a fine stay at this hotel.
This hotel made me feel comfortable: The room was quiet and the bed was comfortable. I walked to a nearby bar and had a drink.
