Worst beds!!!

59 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for business
Let me start by saying that I have stayed in Extended Stay hotels over the years in CA, IL, WI, PA, WA and FL.
I had the dis-pleasure of staying at your location in Santa Barbara, CA last week arriving on 3/14 and departing on 3/16.
My complaint has nothing to do with the how clean the facility was or the people that I came in contact with. Everything was fine in those areas.
My complaint has to do with the beds at this facility. It was like sleeping on the floor. Not only was the side of the bed mattress torn open exposing the inside (room #210) but it was the hardest mattress that I have ever slept on. My first night was horrible. I tossed and turned all night long and got maybe four hours sleep in total. I wound up sleeping on the chair which as you might imagine was not real comfortable either. I was in so much pain in the morning I couldn't stand straight for about an hour or so. I had to leave the hotel early in the morning and the desk clerk was busy with other guests so I figured I would talk to him on my return that evening which I did. I asked to be moved to another room because of the bed. He had me try four other rooms all with the same results. All of the beds were as hard as could be. I said to the clerk "Has anyone else complained about the beds"? His answer floored me. He said "It's our number one complaint". "We hear it all the time". Did you get that? It's our number one complaint and we hear it all the time. What is wrong here? As a company in the hospitality industry I would think that you would want positive comments about your facilities. The business of a hotel is to provide a comfortable bed for overnight guests. To say that you fell short of that goal in Santa Barbara would be a gross understatement. You actually failed miserably. I stripped the bed of its blanket and comforter, folded them length ways and put them under the fitted mattress in the hopes that I could at least soften the bed somewhat for night number two. It didn't work.
Upon leaving the next morning I asked the desk clerk who the hotel owner was and how I could get in touch with them. He would not give me any information at all. He said that he didn't know and couldn't call anyone to get the information from. The next time I stay at an Extended Stay location you can be sure that I will ask to see the room and try the bed out first.

It was perfectly adequate. I had to try three times to get an iron replaced. The first two clerks said they would try to find one and I never heard from them. The third one just went and got it for me.

The location is near everything however the beds are very hard and housekeeping is provided only if you stay for more than seven nights.
This hotel made me feel welcome: The manager remembered me from the last visit which I thought was nice.

I disliked the beds, pillows, and lack of cleaning supplies, dish soap for example, and the lack of shampoo and conditioner.
