Excellence Punta Cana Resort - Page 1

My boyfriend and I had gone to the Excellence in Cancun last year and had a terrific experience, therefore, when it came to trying out the Dominican Republic, we decided to choose the Excellence since it was flawless in Mexico in every single way. BIG MISTAKE!! It was a huge disappointment and a disgrace to the company whose standards according to the one in Mexico are far higher than the ones we experienced the past 6 days there. First and most important the food was terrible! The rice was crunchy and uncooked, fries were served constantly cold, steak was like rubber and we even found another couple who was traveling with us got a fly in their room service food! (The room service was not to be touched at all! Terrible terrible terrible!) There was only one dish that was ok to eat (only one!!) in one of the 6-7 restaurants and when we asked to have more of it they told us they ran out!! The salads were rotting and food was sitting out for hours under lamps where they would harden up and taste horribly. We basically survived for 6 days on eating just breakfast from the buffet which was so and so (because everything else we ordered we returned untouched since it was terrible). To top this off, when asked how things were, we were telling people our dissatisfaction but no one seemed to care at all!! They were all simply asking JUST TO ASK! No one cared to listen. Most of them did not even speak English! The service was just as horrendous! We would ask for an ashtray and they would tell us "tomorrow!" The personnel did the bare minimum and had no intention at all of pleasing anyone and when asked for something showed burdened. The concierge couldn't even accommodate us to speak to the GM so we can let him know! Half of the activities advertised were not available for one reason or another and check this out: they were selling fake designer bags in their gift shop (isn't that illegal?)It was a terrible vacation and all 4 of us came back sick from eating all the awful food they served. It is a shame because it is a beautiful resort and if run like the one in Mexico, it could have been another little paradise. I do not recommend it to anyone!
