So impressed with the Ethan Allen Hotel – Posted Jul 29, 2008

Excellent
40 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for business

I went to Danbury this past week on business and stayed at a great place, the Ethan Allen Hotel. I come to this area often to visit Boehringer Ingelheim for my business, but have never stayed at the Ethan Allen Hotel. What a wonderful surprise! I was so impressed that I had to write this review.

I normally stay at some of the chains to get my points. It is so much better than a boxy chain hotel. The service was warm and inviting. The whole place feels cozy like home, from the lobby to the sitting areas to the sleeping rooms.

As a busy traveler, I appreciated the internet in the rooms and the snack bar open 24 hours. Sometimes I don’t like the fuss of room service and a big dinner, so I can go down there and get a few yogurts and healthy snacks and cuddle up for the night getting work done. And for breakfast, I love the bright solarium in the restaurant. It makes a great start to the day.

With great food, good Internet connections and a good location near the interstate, this is a find that I’ll keep coming back to time and time again. No need to stay at one of the cold chain hotels again.

I don’t care if I don’t get my points here, I will stay at The Ethan Allen in Danbury on business from now on.

Best secret and great hotel in Danbury – Posted Apr 29, 2008

We went to The Ethan Allen Hotel in Danbury for a wedding of a friend and decided to stay the weekend for a little holiday. I did not think that Danbury would be much of a place for R&R but I was wrong. It was a perfect getaway with friends.

The wedding at Ethan Allen was simply beautiful. It seemed like everything went flawlessly. The food was quite good and I must say the service level of the staff was excellent. Everyone who works there seems happy and it reflects on how they treat guests. I am in the service business so I always notice these things and am usually quite critical.

We made plans ahead to fill in our time with other activities. My husband and I felt like kids again when we visited the Danbury Ice Arena, which was only about 5 miles from the hotel. We skated and laughed and a few friends ended up coming along and we had a hoot. Then just the two of us went off to the La Bellezza Spa and had a wonderful massage. The spa is very close to the Ethan Allen Hotel and we did not have to venture far. A stop to shop on the way back at the Danbury Fair Mall was just enough.

The Ethan Allen hotel is a great and not only perfect for a wedding in Danbury but also for a relaxation weekend. The hotel has a beautiful restaurant with an atrium and lots of windows. And a fun bar. The rooms are furnished with Ethan Allen furniture, so they were cozy and warm. They were very comfortable and really all the staff we found to be helpful and caring

Horrible

Unfortunately we found far more dislikes than likes during our stay at this hotel.

We checked into one of the VIP suites. We quickly noticed that the room was not up to any ?VIP standards? The carpet was stained throughout the suite. 3 out of ...

Good
30 year old female with a moderate budget

I was a guest for a wedding and found all the staff to be helpful. From the moment I checked in at the front desk, even to the servers at the reception. I forgot to mention that I could not eat one of the items served for dinner and a new meal was happily bought out to me. My stay was comfortable and relaxing and the breakfast brunch was great too! I would go back again if I ever need to stay in the area.

Also my dog was allowed to stay for only $15. There are not too many pet friendly hotels.

Good
60 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

Overall it was a good experience. One maid knocked and immediately entered. I was only half dressed. Everyone else was extremely nice. We rented two rooms, one for us and one for adult children.

I am very likely to return to the Ethan Allen Hotel.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

Mediocre
56 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

From the outside, this place looked like it would be fabulous. Beginning with the woman at the desk, it was not. We were there for a wedding, the block was not filled because they said there were no rooms available when people called before the cut off date, and the bride and groom did not get the free transportation to the reception. They overbooked the hotel. My reservations booked by Priceline.com were not honored, I had 3 suite rooms and 1 standard room booked. We got 1 suite and the rest were standard, but not at the standard price booked thru Priceline. The head desk clerk needs training on how to treat customers graciously instead of being rude. The bathtubs were not clean. The rooms were OK and the beds were comfortable, but don't ask for a toothbrush if you forget one, they will tell you to buy it at the shop. The outdoor pool was an oversized bathtub.

I am not likely to return to the Ethan Allen Hotel.
I would not recommend it to friends.
