Our kids were in the hot tub and the pool maintanence people put a white powdery substance into the hot tub. He never closed the hot tub down. There were 8 adults that witnessed him pouring in the white substance along with the 4 kids. The Jets came on and they all felt like their lungs were caving in and then started coughing terribly. One of the kids started vomiting and everyone of them formed a rash on their upper body. The resort is denying putting anything into the hot tub...Of course! But, there are 8 adults and 4 kids that saw this man put the substance in. After the paramedics were called to our unit, the Paramedic even stated that all 4 kids were having a Chemical reaction. The security guard stated that they had an instance like this not too long ago, but it was an elderly couple and Emerald Beach Resort figured that it was the medication that they were on that caused them to have a reaction. Our kids are not on any medication and they were only in the hot tub for less than 5 minutes. The resort never bothered contacting us to check on our kids. They are too busy trying to cover this instance up!

Right before we left for this vacation I read many reviews both good and bad about this resort. Some of the reviews made me nervous about our vacation but now that it's over I have to say that all in all it was a very good experience.

One of the common complaints that I read about was quality of service at the front desk, but we rented through Panama City Resorts Rentals Direct (I do not have any association with this buisness, or know anyone that does. I just give credit where credit is due) and never had to deal with the staff at the desks, so honestly couldn't say whether the complaints that I read about were accurate, or not. We were able to go straight to our room and although it was still being cleaned when we got there (we were several hours early) they let us stay and was very courteous and even recomended restaurants to try (and NOT to try).

Another common complaint was about the elevators. It is a very confusing elevator system to get from the parking area to the room, but after the first day we had it figured out and didn't have any more problems after that. The elevators are busy as you would expect for a resort this size, but they are VERY fast if you don't have to make too many stops before your floor.

Another complaint was about the advertised ammenities that the resort offers that aren't open yet. This part was true. Starbucks was open when we were there (early August 2008) but the spa is not yet open. This was not a big deal for us, but may be for others.

We thought that our room was exceptionally furnished and a very good value for the location and ammenities that it offered. Leather couch, fully furnished kitchen with granite countertops, large screen tv in the living room with extensive cable line-up with many premium channels, flat screen tv in the bedroom, and a wonderful balcony that my wife and I enjoyed waking up and drinking coffee from every morning.

The beach was beautiful and the pool was fine.

All in all we were very happy with our Panama City, and Emerald Beach Resort vacation experience and would recommend it to anyone. I would suggest renting through an owner or rental company directly as this seems to simplify the check-in process. Although it's true that there are still some ammenities that are not completed, I believe that it will be a first class resort once complete.

I am very likely to return to the Emerald Beach Resort..
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

My husband and I just returned from there and it will be the last time I go there. The staff is very rude and not very professional AT ALL. The security Guards they have out by the pools sit at the Tiki bar all day and do nothing. It was pretty funny because everytime we walked past the Security Guard, he was sleeping and snoring. Remind me to never hire him for anything...GEEZ!

The Spa had a terrible odor to it and I'm not sure if it had too much chlorine in it or if there was not enough in it. Either way, it almost gagged us everytime we got near the Spa. I don't think this so called "resort" keeps up with their pool maintenance and grounds very well. Let me put it this way, there was no way I was getting in that Spa. I like my health too much!!!

This resort really has nothing to offer anyone. No restaurants on site, no spa services, but yet that represent themselves as "Emerald Beach Resort and Spa". There are much nicer condos in PCB for alot less money. Do not waste your time going here...you will be extremely dissapointed.

Beachred, did you happen to be on vacation the week of July 19-26? If you were, I saw this instance occur also. I was not one of the adults that you spoke to about this, however I did see the Gentleman put a White powder substance in the Spa. I also saw your kids and the other Families kids coughing. I was not actually at the pool when this occured, because this was around 3:00 pm and I had already had enough sun for the day. I happened to be standing on my balcany that overlooks the pool and I did see this happen. I am very sorry that this has happened to your children and the other families children. I do hope that they are all ok now. I was very worried about them after this happened, but I did not see any of you the rest of the week. I think this is pure negligence on their part. I do hope that you did get x-rays on all of the kids because you never know about the long term effects that can be caused from this. Take Care...Bob

-Check in was supposed to be by 4. When we arrived it wasn't ready. They took our number and said they would call us. At 6 we called them and the told us it was ready. When we checked in, the room wasn't as clean as I was expecting. We only had 4 towels (no wash cloths at all!) for a room that sleeps 8. We were told we would have enough laundry and dish detergent for 2 loads each. We had neither. One roll of toilet paper for two bathrooms. Queen size sheets on twin beds. 8 elevators and at least 2 were broken at all times. The service staff, cleaning and construction, use the elevators. When you finally had one that would open up, it would be full of service people and their carts. We had no choice but to let it go on and wait on another. Rolling carts were nearly impossible to find, as the construction crew in the parking garage were using a few to move sheetrock and there was no designated spot for the others. The resort was dirty. Someone left a beer can on the breezeway a few doors down from us. It was there 4 days and it was still there today when we left. I am a doctorate student and needed to log onto my class this week. We were told our unit had high speed internet. It didn't work. The owner said she couldn't help and the front desk was rude and unhelpful. Any time we interacted with the front desk or staff they were rude. It took 3 elevators just to get to our room each time. I will never stay at a wyndham resort again. Nothing was open and this resort shouldn't be open yet. Worst lodging experience ever!
