Embassy West Hotel and Conference Centre Hotel - Page 1

Our family booked three nights at this hotel in the summer of 2005. This is one of the worst experiences I have had in a hotel. Our room was not very clean and it smelled like smoke even though we booked a non-smoking room. Also, the internet was down so I brought my laptop for nothing. In addition, this hotel is pretty far from the touristy stuff in Ottawa.

This hotel has a restaurant but I didn't bother see what they had. The washroom was very simple and the shower was pretty dirty, it was wet and slimy. The sheets smelled like dust and as if it had not been washed. There were two chairs in the room but they were not every comfortable.

The service at the front desk was okay but they ignored the fact that the internet didn't work.

I would not stay in this hotel again and rather pay an extra $40 more per night.

I booked two nights at this place in May 2006. However, I only stayed for one night and I must say, this is probably one of the worst hotels I've ever slept in. The hotel's not in a great location, it's off a major highway but still within the Ottawa area but nowhere near the major sights.

The decore is very drab and something you would see out of the 80's. The elevators were awful and terribly slow. There's a restaurant in the hotel but I would avoid it like the plague. The room wasn't all that great either. It was very plain and in dire need of an update. The bathroom was okay - shower, toilet and sink worked properly. The only downside to the bathroom was that someone left behind wet towels for us to use. The room kind of smelled like cigarette smoke and dirty laundry which was a major turn-off for us. The only upside to this place is that the check-in people are extremely friendly and willing to help you with anything.

I won't be coming back here again - not in a long shot. I'll spend a bit more money for better rooms and cleanliness.

While still a little expensive - the hotel was the best deal we could find in Ottawa. It's a little far from downtown - but the cost of staying downtown makes it worth the drive.
