First of all, let me preface this review by mentioning that I found the property to be very nice, the views excellent, the room spotless - but the service just hasn't found it's comfort zone yet.
When we arrived at the carport, we found that the bell staff had no radio, and had to yell for a bellman (about 30 feet away); that effort was unsuccessful. Once a bellman had been tracked down, he thought he would just leave our luggage in the middle of a busy lobby -- unattended. (I started to move the cart, and the bellman just about FLEW over to us from the belldesk). I also encountered some non-English-speaking front desk personnel (how can that be?).
After all these issues were resolved, however ... we found the room and views to be worth the wait. The typical Embassy Suites happy hour was presented in an outdoor patio area with live Hawaiian music, and light "pupu". Sodas were self-service via a fountain dispenser. The breakfast was warm and tasty, and offered an exceptional variety.
The beach is just across the street, there is shopping everywhere, and dining galore.
One of the things we liked best about this hotel is the swimming pool: while not incredibly large or fancy by resort standards, it did have a very interesting rubber surface. That made for sure footing in the pool, and what's more, it was much easier on the feet than traditional pool surfaces which can be quite rough.
