Embassy Suites San Francisco Airport Burlingame

You would think for $229, that a hotel would be fairly decent. Think again when it comes to the Embassy Suites at the San Francisco Airport. First of all, after a harried day of airports and delayed flights, there is no one available to help with bags and a line to check-in. Next, when I get to my room it is so hot and stuffy that I find I can hardly breathe. When I call the front desk they explain that the hotel has no option for choosing between heat or air conditioning and that this warm night the hotel is on heat only, but they can bring up a fan. Why am I paying $229 only to be offered a fan? Parking was not available close to the door and I had to park around back. To get online costs $10 and you would think that like most of the nicer hotels in San Francisco, Internet access would be free. In general, I find Embassy Suites (this is my second try) to be terribly short staffed with very rude staff, ridicuoulsy over-priced, and falling apart in all sorts of ways. I've heard the Hyatt is a very nice hotel at SFO and the same price. Next time, I stay at the Hyatt.

The inside of the hotel has a hugh atrium filled with tropical plants, I have stayed at this hotel and also visited it when they hosted some charity event, I enjoyed being in the atrium very much, however the rooms were less desirable. Those room that are near the bottom floors are not very private, almost seem like the walls are too thin, if there are kids screaming in the atrium you can hear them.

LOVE: Front desk service was good; Staffs were very courteous and friendly; The room was big and quite clean; Plenty of free parking spaces; Convenient location to go around SF; Free breakfast and snacks in the afternoon.

HATE: Long breakfast lineups; Not enough tables to eat your breakfast; Hot water runs out when taking a shower; Long elevator wait; One elevator was out of service; Vending machine didn't work.

If I could give this hotel a rating of 0 I would.

Yeah, the hotel looks nice, the rooms are big and clean, parking is free, but the staff of the hotel is another story. From the front desk clerks, to the wait staff, to room service, I have never expertised such a horrible stay at any hotel. We waited over 1 hour for room service to deliver a cup of milk for our baby, the restaurant staff rolled their eyes when we asked to order more drinks on a Friday night, the night manager and security would not allow us to sit in the lobby past 12:00 am. Do you want me to go on?

I was catching an early morning flight and the location was two miles from the airport. A hearty breakfast and a hosted evening bar come with the room. I like using their gym and the service is always excellent.
