+Having just arrived from San Pedro and a four day Royal Caribbean cruise, we were overnighting in advance of a late morning departure from LAX.
We arrived somewhat early (1100AM) but the hotel staff at the front desk made the check-in process quick and painless.
Polite and helpful, they efficiently handled the paperwork and gave us quick directions to the elevators.
Our room was located on the fourth floor on the south side of the hotel.
Upon entering the room, we found the facilities spacious, well kept and comfortable. The room even had a wet bar with microwave, as well as a fold-out sofa, with a large flat screen TV in the living room area.
This room would have been fine for a family with children.
Bedding was of superior quality, and the high count sheets and plump pillows made for a great comfortable nights sleep.
We were informed of the 'Managers Cocktail Reception', at check-in, that was scheduled to begin at 600PM, so shortly before that time, we went down and found a table in the indoor patio area near the bar.
The hotel seemed full, and the bar was briskly serving drinks.
The usual bar fare was available, with well drinks, wine, beer and some great
Margaritas were served. The bartenders were 'generous' with the drinks.
Chips and salsa, as well as a type of 'Chex Mix' was available and plentiful.
There was a long line for the bar (about 25 minutes) since only one bar tender was feverishly trying to serve everyone.
The Margaritas (plastic glasses) were plentiful, tasty and potent.
A full, hot breakfast was served in the morning starting at 0700, but the line was very long (30-35 minute wait) as guests placed custom omelette orders with the two grill persons who were hard at work taking orders.
A buffet line was also available, with the usual scrambled eggs, breakfast meats and cereals, yogurts, juices and pastries available to anyone who did not wish to endure the long line.
While the food was good, I couldn't help but notice that the stone/tile floor in the bar/breakfast area could really do with a good steam cleaning or pressure washing, but I think that this hotel is so very busy seven nights a week, that it would be difficult to schedule.
Overnight parking was overpriced for hotel guests ($12.00 per night) and the garage area was crammed with cars.
The hotel shuttle (every twenty minutes) left precisely on time, with crisp, uniformed help loading baggage into the back of the large shuttle busses.
This hotel is well located close to LAX but well out of the main, EAST/WEST flight path, so it was quiet yet convenient.
The ride NORTH over to the terminal on Sepulveda Blvd. took no more than eight to ten minutes, but once there at LAX, morning traffic clogged the roads, so passengers are well advised to allow plenty of time in advance of their flights.
Curiously, when we awoke in the AM, tried to pull back the drapes, and found the windows had been 'frosted' over. When we cracked open the sliding window, it was obvious why.... the back of the hotel was right up against a residential area with private homes within fifty feet or so.
The 'frosted glass' afforded hotel guests adequate privacy.
Overall, a very good value for passengers arriving or departing LAX.
I'll use it again, but will avoid the 'rush hours' for the cocktail reception and the breakfast in the morning.
