I've never had a problem with an Embassy Suites before. This particular location, however, is in need of an update, and a friendlier, more helpful staff would also be an improvement.
To start, the furniture in the sitting area within the suite actually smelled filthy, as did the bedding. When we arrived, we promptly notified the front desk that our Internet connection didn't appear to be working, and they told us to "fix it or deal" because no one could help us. The TV in the bedroom didn't work, either. "View rooms" are a misnomer, because the view is either A1A (busy highway, across from some very noisy bars and surrounded by gas stations) or a shopping center located immediately behind the hotel. The water coming out of the faucets was yellowish, and again, we were told there was nothing they could do.
Finally, they overcharged us checking out. As Hilton Honors members, we received free Internet access with our stay, but we were charged for this upon checkout and it then took them 22 minutes to fix the error, all this, of course, as we're trying to get out and make our flight. Valets are fairly quick but at one point we did have to wait 15 minutes for our car, which was visible from the front lobby. Overnight parking rates are ridiculous, although they do allow in/out privileges to guests.
A few positives, a well-stocked gift shop; the in-hotel restaurant, Salute, was excellent and serves monster-sized portions; pool area; a nice, less-than-5-mile drive to Fort Lauderdale Beach.
I saw some pictures associated with this hotel that were fairly recent, however, my stay there just one month later showed a very different story. Until they make this hotel over, I'd stay elsewhere.
