they made my stay great – Posted Oct 13, 2009

Excellent
traveling for leisure

I fractured the metatarsal bone in my foot 2 days before leaving on a long awaited trip to Florida and 4 days of hopefully soaking in the sun. After considering canceling my trip, having a pity-party for a day and thinking about the 23 steps I have to climb to get in and out of my carriage house apartment, I decided to go anyway--packed my little sun dresses, the right shoe of the 4 flat-soled shoes I owned and left home my bitchin' heels and sandals...they don't do well on crutches, and headed to La Guardia Airport with my new 2 best friends; crutch left and crutch right. The airport experience was painless and except for being patted down at security and enduring the first-time embarrassment of being pushed through the terminal in a wheel chair, I was treated like a VIP by all airport and Jet Blue employees. I had the same experience upon landing in West Palm Beach Airport. Taxi to the hotel and hobbled to the front desk to check in. Seeing my condition and after a few jokes about how it happened; "a cast iron door fell on my foot, long story", without asking they changed the location of my room to one near the elevator and with a full ocean view. The room was exactly as their named claimed...a suite with 2 full bathrooms; one with a walk in shower complete with hand rails. The rooms were clean and spacious and easy to move around in even with my 2 side-kicks. I ordered room service for dinner and enjoyed a done to perfection sesame seeded seared Ahi seaweed salad before retiring to bed. The bed was very comfortable and the only complaint I could have were that the pillows were too hard for my personal comfort. The next morning I woke to the most amazing sunrise, showered with ease, dressed and took the elevator down to the dining room-- BT's Oceanfront--and was a bit alarmed to see that the breakfast was buffet style. Anyone ever having been on crutches knows that there's no way to walk and carry a tray without it all ending up on the floor. My fears were quickly brushed aside when the staff rushed to my side and I was assigned a wonderful man named Charles and who was to be my "buffet escort" for my entire stay. He guided me to the cook to order omelette station where I selected from at least 12 custom ingredients, the fruit table that was filled with a overflowing selection, by passed the buffet of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, grits, pastries, bagels, muffins and other breakfast "lets get fat and flabby" foods, steered me to the coffee bar and to a table with an ocean view. I have traveled a lot on business and had come to expect that a complimentary breakfast was cardboard bagels and pre-packaged tins of cream cheese and a warm sparse selection of yogurt and dry cereal in little cardboard packages. The breakfast at BT's was wonderful; the omelette was moist and chock full of good stuff and I ordered one each morning of my stay. That's saying a lot for a very infrequent egg eater. I spent a good part of the day by the pool which was a nice size and had an abundance of lounge chairs and tables. The weather was amazing and I wondered how I could ever leave these sunny skies for the gray of NYC. I almost passed on the 5:30 to 7:30 "Managers Reception" with free drinks and snacks but went down anyway. The manager wasn't there, the snacks were exactly that chips and salsa but the drinks were free. From most every type of FooFoo drinks to wine, beer and mixed...all you wanted on the house. Can't beat that. You have to understand that I am not a big drinker an usually 2 wines knock me out for the night, but after having one of their delicious Pina Colada's, I had 2 more and at the end of the evening I DWC'd back to my room; Drinking while Crutching. The rest of my stay was easy with doormen and bell caps jumping to my aid and when the time came to check out I wanted to book a few more days but decided to put it off until I can return wearing high heels with my little black dresses.

Excellent
52 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

Just came back last Sunday and my daughter and myself had a great time. If you want a relaxing beach vacation this is the place. The hotel is very clean, and as I sat on my balcony each morning as I watched the sun rise over the water, I saw the pool area, being cleaned and everything was spotless. Our rooms were cleaned every day early in the day so we didn't come back from the beach to a filthy room. Loved the cooked to order breakfast each morning, served till 10:30 so you could sleep late. The Manager's Complimentary happy hour was very nice as well. Everyone was so friendly. I also loved there were no additional charges for use of beach chairs and umbrellas. I'm going back. It was my second vist to an Embassy Suites in 1 year. The other visit was in LaJolla, California. Suites were smaller but still a very good experience.
