Hotel Review

3.0/10
Poor

41 year old man with a moderate budget, traveling for business

Well for the price, it's worth it. But for the name "Embassy Suites" it's not living up to the name and therefore not my typical Embassy Suite. The rooms are large, but could have made better use of the large space and added another bed in a chair or something. How about a darn desk for my laptop (that I'm writing this review on right now)... oh, and no family rooms!

I haven't eaten breakfast here but my wife says it's very good. I don't know what the happy hour is like, but hey, that's free booze... nice.

The kids love the pool, but from 15 floors up (actually 14 because there's no 13th floor (gotta love superstitious people)) the end of the pool in another section, looked dirty and the fountain looked like it needed a few or more nozzles. Okay, I'm picky but that's not all!

Now, I smoke and this being a non-smoking room, I wanna go out and smoke on the balcony (with the door closed of course) but the sliding glass door was hella-hard to open. I mean, I thought I was going to break the handle opening it. My kids all tried and even the wife... with no luck. So I called maintenance and this big dude came up and with a big jerking motion, opened the door... sure, I duplicated that afterwards (because now I know the handle won't fall off), but it's still very hard to open, and I weigh in at a measly 260 pounds! Give me a break!

Well, what he tells me is that it's not the door... no duh dopey! So FIX THE DAMN THING ALREADY!!! I imagine his lack of fixing the door was lack of funds, but it would have been nice to see him TRY to use a damn screwdriver to raise the wheel at the bottom of the door (ultimately, just change the dang door threshold)... just a thought.

Just a side note: When he came to the door, I couldn't see who was at the door because the lens in the door was all scratched... then I noticed that there was some junk in the way as well but that was pushed aside. He tried to clean out the junk with a screwdriver but that was scratching the lens even more... duh! I thought to myself... "what an idiot"... after a while I suggested he replace the part, which he did with another scratched lens.. but this was not as bad as the first. At least now I can see if it's a mad man coming to rape my wife and kids and not the cleaning or maintenance staff. Cheap bastards.

The bathroom was lack-luster, even with the granite counter tops everywhere. The colors of the rooms were faded mustard yellow that was rather reminiscent of the 70's and very depressing.

No water pressure! It's like worse than living in England!!!

I was offered another room, but that screwed up things even more. When I went to get the key, girl number one gives me a key... the second room was worse (but had a better table) and the door was just as crappy to open. So we opted to keep this room. I took the key back and girl number one was gone, girl number two was there... gave me the glazed look as I said "we'll keep the room we're in" and the next day my keys didn't work in the room we remained in. Nice Job!

In the end, the room had all I needed, and even gave me a much needed workout when I go to smoke... but I'm now going to switch my favorite hotel brands from the Embassy Suites as this is not my typical Embassy Suite that I'm used to.

Bye bye "Hilton Honors" program.
