45 year old with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

Relatively nice looking from pics and their own web site, this hotel is really really poor for families or anyone who doesn't golf all day and get drunk at night. Rooms were tiny -- half the size of e.g. Hampton Inn and Suites. You practically have to stand in the toilet to use the sink area or get into the tub. Kitchenette is mini fridge that barely holds a can of soda tall, microwave at toddler level! Bed cover was very expensive, but pillows, sheets, towels were practically prison grade -- actually might be nicer there! While overall decent condition, the fridge was dirty and one of the phones had grime and something sticky on it. We discovered the glass drinking glasses and coffee cups/pots are washed by housekeeping in the room without changing them between guests -- hopefully using the sink but we wondered -- toilet is larger and has automatic rinse if you know what we mean. Heard of that before, don't know, don't want to. If you go bring paper cups and go to the store for coffee!

Some second floor rooms are actually below roof level and we had to close up the blinds because maintenance people were on the roof and looking down into our bedroom. No one bothered to notify us that they would have people working on the roof outside our bedroom window early in the morning!

Their cable system doesn't have a single childrens station on it -- you have to pay $14 per two hours for childrens shows or a movie. Getting a weather forecast cost $1.00 -- no weather channel -- the remote allows you to ask for local weather which only gives you current temp then asks if you want to buy the forecast for one day! Bizarre -- charging for info they get for free. We actually ordered one movie and instead of the movie theatre release they advertised it was a play filmed (poorly) of the same name.

The linens for the pull out beds for children are nearly rags. Some rooms are drafty, and the ventilation in our room was filthy. The restaurant is a nightmare, no one will help you get food for kids and get settled. Be there on time or the manager will berate you and refuse you service if you try to go even one minute past 9 am. The pool was unsupervised with about a dozen teenagers throwing balls and acting like bafoons -- we tried twice to go and could not because of rowdiness. They have loud parties and poor sound insulation from their "ball rooms" until 2 or 3 in morning sometimes. In evening some intoxicated bar patrons roam the lobby area and not sure who some of the characters hanging out on the sofas in the main lobby were -- golfers or local charlatans -- who knows.

While we were there we say the police were all over the parking lot, in the lobby etc. They came in with hands over their revolvers like they were expecting trouble and had seen it there before! We saw 4 or 5 police there in middle of the day one day -- they apparently searched one room -- maybe for drug dealer, we don't know -- we actually have pics of this you can see here posted

Only positive -- the front desk people were really pleasant, professional and as helpful as they could be given how poorly managed this place was. The Asst. Manager we talked to was defensive and useless -- just out of Hotel School (or maybe high school by the looks of him)

Bottom line -- stay away from Embassy Suites Greenville Golf Resort and Conference Center in Greenville SC if you have children or if you care about children. We checked out 2 days early and went to another suites hotel -- there are dozens in the area that are nicer and cleaner and we didn't see police going in and out of our other one.
