We stumbled upon the Elk Guest House while driving up the coast on Labor Day weekend without a reservation. There were no vacancies in the town of Elk, so we continued north, but just a few minutes north of downtown Elk, right on Route 1, is a small sign for the Elk Guest House. We saw it and decided to give it a try. They still had a room available: a separate building, which had a full kitchen, 2 bedrooms, bathroom, wood fireplace, satellite TV, stereo, etc. The owner is an extremely nice woman, and we had a great time. The garden around the house is lovely, and everything is perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean. The views are spectacular. There are 2 horses roaming about, a few cats and dogs, and we saw deer at night. It was a peaceful, quiet getaway with an amazing location.
