45 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

Where do I start? When we checked in the bathrooms appeared uncleaned. There was hair in the tub and dirty towels hanging up. Imagine my shock when the innkeeper said the she herself had cleaned the room. I guess her definition of clean is different then mine. Additionally, the towels were threadbare and stained, the drapes were shabby and dusty, and the floors were dirty. Also, the kitchen was broken, so we had to leave to eat. Lastly our cabin, while quite big, was the second floor of a structure that contained the garage and laundry for the Inn. In summary, I do not recommend this place and believe that the Innkeeper needs to educate herself with how to care for an Inn.

53 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

We stayed here for two nights with three children ages 13, 9 & 9. The food was good with large portions for breakfast and dinner. The stable staff was incredibly nice to our children and let them help with the horses. The trail ride was fun although we only took the one hour ride. We went into Cody for the Buffalo Bill museum [excellent] and the local rodeo [lots of fun]. It's also very close to Yellowstone for easy day trips. We plan to come back again for 2009. Downside was that the fishing in Shosone River was bad due to runoff and cloudy water.

I am very likely to return to the Elephant Head Lodge.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

59 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

The new owners, Debbie and Kevin, are wonderful people making your stay as personable as one can. They run the place as if you are visiting a homestead versus a "motel" of detached workers. You are truely in the wilderness and thank goodness the rooms have no TV...it gives you the opportunity to experience the wilderness as one should. The property is well kept and we were amazed how clean and up to date the cabins were. We will make this lodge our Yellowstone home away from home.

Well, where to start.... Our cabin was so small we could not move! The bathroom was so small that we laughed; it was so uncomfortable we cut our stay short. There is no heat and we froze at night, there was one thin blanket from Wal-mart, no TV, and the beds left an awful lot to be desired, I tossed and turned all night! The breakfast was in one word, bad! These are new owners who were ranchers and need to learn an awful lot about running an inn. Oh, and it is near nothing, Cody is about a half hour ride. Stay in town for a day or two and then move on, the only thing there was the Buffalo Bill center which was great!

A beautiful location where the food is terrific and the staff can't do enough to make sure your stay is enjoyable. This is a great jump-off point to enjoy Yellowstone, a short drive through the pass brings you into the park. The Elephant Head's restaurant served some of the best steak I've ever had and the views are amazing. Take a trail ride, the guides and horses are great!

I am very likely to return to the Elephant Head Lodge.
