Sedona has a number of fine hotels/inns. I know because we had time to kill after arrival and, so, checked out a number of them to see if staying at El Portal was the right decision. It was. Located about 1/4 mile from the "Y" (the geographic point in Sedona from which all directions seem to be provided), all of its dozen or so rooms are spacious, beautifully appointed and well-maintained. The restaurant is clearly highly-regarded, as it took two nights of trying and one canceled reservation to get in. Negatives? No swimming pool and no on-site exercise room. This isn't the place for you if either of those is a must. Otherwise, it's tough to think of how the owners might improve the place. We'll definitely return if we return to Sedona.
