The location downtown Las Vegas was ok and the hotel parking was very good as it was very close to our room.

The hotel had a great location on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas, just a couple of blocks from the Experience. It was quite affordable, with great access to the major hotels downtown. It was off the Strip, though. They had shuttles to the Strip, if you wanted to get there, but there was plenty to do downtown.
This hotel made me feel excited: There were plenty of in-hotel gambling options and it was just a block away from a great nighttime scene.

The hotel has a great downtown location. It is great value during the week for $25 a night. It has very clean rooms, a casino and a friendly staff all round. I would return there again.
This hotel made me feel comfortable: The staff took me to locations I asked about. There was a wonderful piano player in the bar that actually visited with me and took requests. The slot attendants were very warm.

The hotel stay was inexpensive, but it was very sufficient for my needs. I liked the convenient downtown location. It's a comfortable place to stay.

The hotel was clean and the location was great. But the check in could have been better and quicker.

I wouldn't suggest staying at this hotel. It is not on the strip, and it is a few blocks away from Fremont Street. There is a huge construction project going on next door, and it is not in a good area of town. Scary.

This hotel was off the main drag and cheap. Casino gaming management was bad.

47 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
I stayed at the El Cortez from 4/17 - 4/22. My family and friends tried to warm me about the hotel and location but all their fears were unfounded. We found the room our Jacuzzi suite to be clean, comfortable and no detail was overlooked. The desk staff were very professional and helpful. The entire staff was great, from security opening the door, housekeeping getting us an item we forgot to pack and so much more. The valets were outstanding providing quick and friendly service.
Once I was to meet family across town, the valet provided me quick and simple directions to my destination while avoiding rush hour traffic on the freeway. The casino was smoky, but no more so than any other off strip casino. The slots were not as loose as we would have liked, and the cocktail hostess was apparently busy elsewhere. In fact, we did not have a single drink served us by the hostess all week. We found the gift shop to be well stocked with quality merchandise at a good value. We only ate at Kittie's Cafe once and the food was good and a good value. Again, the staff was very friendly and efficient. We plan to visit the El Cortez again and again.

I love the El Cortez prime location around the corner of the cover old Strip downtown. The rooms are nice, clean, cozy and really cheap all year long ($40). The casino is cool and the slots machines are winners!

This hotel is clean and the location is great for the downtown mall; but if you want the Strip, it's the wrong location. It's great for those that like it quieter and have a car. It's a couple miles from the main strip of newer casinos. I enjoyed my stay and it wasn't far from many of the wedding chapels.

As I understand, their rooms can be pretty inexpensive. I've played there before, so my Casino (Slot) Host, was able to give me a complimentary room. The rooms are pretty nice, water pressure isn't the greatest, but well worth the money (unless you get a comp room, which makes it even better).

This hotel is in a good location -- off the Strip -- near the Freemont. The experience is not for those who wish to revel in luxury. (El Cortez's machines pay off much better than those on the Strip, and I do not gamble.) The rooms are nice, clean, and service is very good. They have newly refurbished rooms, a usually more mature crowd, and very good, reasonably-priced restaurants.
