Rich in history, natural beauty and possessing a charming hacienda atmosphere, the El Cordova Hotel was originally built as a retirement mansion house for wealthy industrialist Elisha Babcock in 1902. In 1930 it was converted to a Spanish Village hotel and has been updated and expanded several times since then to provide additional rooms and amenities.
The picturesque Coronado Village is bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the South and West, San Diego bay to the North and Glorietta Bay to the East. The majestic Coronado Bridge connects the Village to downtown San Diego while the peninsula known as the Silver Strand provides access to a stretch of more beautiful beaches and the gateway to Mexico by land. Its proximity to San Diego and its many attractions makes Coronado a perfect destination while visiting the San Diego Area.
Official Hotel Information
1902 mansion recently converted into a charming "Spanish Village" with 40 guest rooms, three restaurants and 12 boutique shops. The hotel is located across from the Hotel Del Coronado and only one block to the beach!

Mediocre
room was not as pictured on internet, very very dissapointing. Dust on furniture, windows, drapes. Furniture was cheap, and didn't match the decor. This hotel has so much potential, they just don't take advantage of it. They COULD be so much more,...

Okay
I was there on a business trip because the "Del" was booked. The larger rooms would be great for a family holiday, but this is not a place for the business...

Nice small hotel. Plenty of smaller resturants. Nicest beach we saw in Calif. across the street. Very convient to Zoo, Sea World, Seaport Village and the Waterfront area. 20 minutes to La Jolla.

Okay
Overall, the El Cordova is a nice hotel I'd probably use again. Some things we experienced: no air conditioning, no refrigerator and no microwave oven in our room. (Perhaps other rooms do have these.) Our queen-sized bed's mattress felt sub-standard ...
