Deciding to go to Providence for the night, three of us decided that it would be much nicer to stay at this Inn rather than a large, impersonal hotel. Two of us shared a "suite", the other had a room to herself. We had been quoted a price of $199 plus tax (13%) for the night for the suite, but when we arrived the two of us in the suite were charged $138.68 each. When we questioned this the owner denied ever quoting the $199 price and said all the rooms were $119.00 or $129.00 and we were being charged accordingly. I argued the point as I had spoken to him twice and he is the one who said "I can offer you a suite for $199.00 plus tax". I've certainly never heard of being charged two room rates for a two-bedroom suite. A suite is a suite and we were being charged extra to share a bathroom (door didn't even close!). Also, any suite I've ever seen had a sitting area but not this one, just a couple of bedrooms, a hallway and a bathroom. He suddenly decided to give the two of us in the suite $4.00 each. He then said "Well, it's only a difference of $18.00". Have no idea where this figure came from as it still doesn't add up, but when we replied that that statement worked both ways, he simply walked out of the building, got in his car and left! Not a sterling businessman. Oh yes, he did tell us they were fully booked and then proceeded to offer us an 'upgrade' to two single rooms for $129 plus tax for the night. We also heard his innkeeper offer a walk-in customer rooms (after speaking to him on the phone) for even more money a couple of hours later. Should you decide to stay here, get your reservation in writing.
"Afternoon tea" is simply a table with some tea and coffee supplies on it, a water cooler that dispenses hot water as well for the tea and a pack of opened cookies with a few broken ones left. Breakfast was the one bright spot of our stay here.
All in all, would not recommend.
