1. Upon arrival, we found the hallway to be dark. The attendant said the lights were on a timer and the owner is supposed to bring in a lightbulb for the one that is out next to your door. Since there are no windows or natural light in the hallway, we had to feel around the door handle to locate the key slide. Even on Friday, when we asked again, the "owner keeps forgetting" to bring the lightbulb.
2. The room had one small handsoap to be used for 2 sinks and the shower. When we asked for additional soap, we were told, "sorry, we didn’t get our shipment." (There was a dollar store across the street that carried soap and lighbulbs.) I bought soap for the room.
3. When we returned to our room on the second afternoon, the beds had not been made nor were there any clean towels. When we spoke to the attendant, he said "the maid didn’t show up." When we returned late that night, there were clean towels and the spread had been pulled up.
4. In the morning when we started brushing our teeth, there was only hot water. We tried to take a shower but the water was scalding and there was no cold water after turning the handle on the coldest setting and letting it run. Also, the tub filled with hot water even though the drain-stopper was open as the pipes were clogged.
When I told the attendant that there was only hot water in the mornings, he started making excuses about how the pipes heat up at night so all the water is hot in the morning until you let it run for a long time. When I told him that we did let it run for a long time and my husband and I have stayed in numerous hotels over our lifetimes and I have never been in a hotel where cold water was not available, his response was simply, "Really?" He did not even say sorry.
