Econo Lodge Watertown Motel - Page 1

I was looking for a comfortable, safe, economical place to spend the night with my dog. The Econo Lodge hotel in Watertown did all that.

After driving several hours and having reservations weeks in advance, my family and I arrived at the Econolodge in beautiful Watertown, NY to find that the room assigned to us was completely filthy...the receptionist office is not at all attached to the motel units themselves..and upon informing the receptionist that the room was not cleaned (beds not made, garbage lying about, dirty linen in bathroom) they actually stated that they did not believe us...it was only when I asked for a phone book to book at another hotel...did they relent and "offer" to clean the room...after we accepted our "clean room"..(I was really tired)...the lightbulbs did not work and the stench of the room was barnyard-like...but we decided to stay nonetheless (yeah, I should have listened to my gut instincts)...the last night that we stayed (which was not a weekend night) found us dealing with excessively loud (yelling, playing music) people who had been assigned the room next to ours...mind you, the hotel was not at all 1/2 filled....after several calls after midnight to the receptionist to ask that they request that our neighbors quiet down to a mild roar, I found that the receptionist had no (what I like to call "testicular fortitude") and at no time made the calls requested....when leaving very early the next day, I made my dissatisfaction known to the receptionist on duty at the time...who had "absolutely no idea" (what a surprise) of my complaint....and furthermore, when submitting a complaint to choice hotels itself, the customer service people at choice hotels took Econolodge's reply that no such complaint was registered...(regarding the condition of the room...or the noise level subjected to)..so in essence, the reception staff at Econolodge is completely useless and a bunch of fibbers...In closing, if its a smelly and unclean room with lots of loud neighbors that you want where the receptionist basically calls you a liar..then the Watertown, NY Econolodge is definitely the place for you.

We usually love staying here but they never told us the pool heater was broke and we jumped into the freezing water. They said it would be fixed within a couple of hours and never was. We also wanted more coffee and they did not give it to us.

The stay was much more pleasant than we expected.

We go there for the pool.
