This is a fairly large motel block just off the 101 Freeway a bit south of the town and shopping center. About the only thing sharing this side of the on/off- ramp was a 7-11 and a filling station, but if you drive down the road a bit toward Monterrey you'll find a few more services. My room was fairly basic with not real comfortable bedding, a mini fridge, full bath, TV (not too many channels), ample lighting, a free safe, and a heater that was pretty much trashed by probably all the previous travelers trying to locate the thermostat which happened to be placed elsewhere on the wall nearer the bed. There was no hair dryer in the bath. The parking area is large and can accommodate all sizes of vehicles. It's a fairly inexpensive lodging for a night or two. I saw a few construction workers probably staying longer while working their project and, also, some GIs from Fort Ord celebrating weekend leave. The office area offers a small breakfast and free newspaper in the morning. It also stores a good supply of tourist brochures. Monterrey, Carmel, and the Big Sur area are about 20 minutes away and San Francisco is about 80. If you're coming north and looking for a cheap place to stay the night before hitting the big city, maybe this is it. Best to show up after dark and leave pretty early because there's not much to do here.

The owners were very, very, nice! They were the only good thing about the hotel. The room was not very clean and the handle on the toilet was broken. The hotel was much worse than I expected. Hotel prices were very expense in the surrounding area,...
24 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
Lowest price found available in area. Was having car troubles and was very accomidating to our needs. We arrived very late and had to stay past checkout to work on our vehicle. They let us continue to use the room until we were repaired and ready to go (hours later). New management/ownership within the last few months so he is working on fixing the place up. But for $54 after taxes this was a nice hotel to stay at, with a great attitude towards their customers. Location was nice not too far from where we needed to go, and there continental breakfast was well stocked. Highly recomend staying here.

None.Everything. We reached late and there were only 1 room left. This room was in terrible condition (dirty, broken A/C, etc). The staff could not do much as he mentioned that his manager was on vacation. There was a fan in the room (which to me,...

Mediocre
My wife and I were reminded very quickly about how great our bed is. This bed was terrible. The TV barely worked and there no places to eat close by. It seems to have a new owner who is working really hard but just not that great of a hotel.

Horrible
In May, 2007, this motel was fairly comfortable and reasonably priced. It seems to have changed hands since then. We believe the new owners are using a "bait and switch" tactic if you arrive after a certain time. They claimed that there was a...
I enjoyed the fact that we finally found a room within the Monterey County Fair Grounds on the Summer of Love's ending night July 29th. I hadn't been
with my husband for 12 years in Santa Cruz and Monterey County and I had
hoped I would save a few bucks and rent a room about 12 miles or so from the fair ground to get back over towards where I use to go to church in
Salinas. Anyway, I passed up a deal for $79.00 a night 6 hours earlier to try and find a $54.00 plus tax room. I traveled over there at about 8 to 9 pm.
The bed was decent not too shabby and the room was quite clean but the problem was that at 10 pm the water stopped working and there was no water for the remaining part of the night. Luck would have it that my hair is frizzy and I needed to shower to fly from Monterey to Ontario and then onto Tulsa Oklahoma and then on to Arkansas the next morning, and I was unable to do that. When we checked out at 5 am. there was no one in the room up front to even give the key too. My husband and I fought all the way to the airport due the fact that I did not get the more expensive hotel in Seaside. Now I know just pay and get what you paid for.
