Good
Good breakfast and staff. The only problem is that to achieve the room we have to use elevator and then go to an external access way with a temperature lower than 32 degrees.
35 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for business
The front desk lady (I think she was Indian) who identified herself as "Nisha" has been bugging me for $2.00 since I stayed. The checked in at midnight, so I forgot I had AAA card, which could have given me 10% off the price. The next morning when I was in their breakfast room, I was trying to find a receptionist to talk about this. I heard some movement inside the front desk at the corner when I could not see, so I called "hello" trying get someone. The movement stopped, but no one came out. I called "hello, some body there?" louder for 4 times, still no one came out. I decided to work on my breakfast. After 5 minutes, Nisha came to the breakfast room. When I asked her if you worked there, she apparently was annoyed by me for interrupting what she was doing. When I asked about AAA discount, she was even more upset, telling me I couldn't not use the discount b/c my internet booking price was already lower than their official tag price. Then I told her that I have talked to someone in her motel a few days before, and he had confirmed that they took AAA discount. She then told me that the guy didn't know what he was doing. Then, she told me that I owed her $2.00 because they charge a different tax rate (13.5%) instead of my reservation rate (12.5%). I was in a rush going for my appointment, then I told her that I would check my reservation paper and get back to her. Then I forgot this for the next few days.
What's unbelievable was that, 7am I was loading my stuff before checking out, this Nisha lady was already waiting at my door: "you still owe me $2.00". I was thinking "wow ,I stayed in your motel for 5 nights, and you are chasing me for $2.00?". I pointed out that we should follow my reservation rate (I made my reservation through Kayak), she pulled out a piece of laminated paper with different rate and charges on it, told me that I needed to follow the rate stated on her paper.
I called their customer service, had their rep talked to her, after 10 minutes of arguing with their own rep, she finally cave in, told me: "ok, I let you go this time". That has already wasted 30 minutes of my time. During my entire 36 years, I have not encountered any receptionist with such rude and nasty attitude, until now.
Encono lodge, Montegomery, you made my money once, but will never again.
I stayed in Econo Lodge for 5 nights. The hardware was good, however, the front desk person was terrible, made me feel like I was running into a scam. When I checked in, it was late night, and I couldn't find my reservation paper, so I let the front desk person charged me based on what's on their computer screen and I paid cash in full. However, I didn't realized they charged me at 13.5% tax rate instead of stated 12%. No big deal. Then next morning, when I was having breakfast in their breakfast room, an Indian front desk lady who identified herself as "Nisha", approached me and told me straight: "you owe me two dollars". Her reason was that they needed to charge me based on what's printed on their side of laminated paper, not what's stated on my reservation paper. She said that the person checked me in last night didn't know what he was doing. come on, 2 dollars, that's how much I gave to homeless standing at the corner of the street. However, what I didnt like what her rudeness and poor attitude. On top of that, that's principle issue. I paid cash in full in advance for 5 nights, why bugged me with $2, charged me a different tax rate than what's stated on their official website?
What's so unbelievable was that, at the sixth day, when I was checking out 7am in the morning, this "Nisha" lady was already waiting at my door, asking for $2. Then I had to stay extra 30 mins to call their customer service, had their rep to talked to her. Even with that, she was unwilling to give up $2. After a long conversation with the rep, she finally gave in, and told me: " alright, I let you go this time.".
I have never seen such a nasty hotel manager in my whole life. Econo Lodge, you had my business this time, but never, never, never next time. That's so much for the personnel quality of " Choice hotel internationals".
