The Econo Lodge is located with easy access of I-80/I-35 using exit 131, just 3 blocks south on Merle Hay Road on the left. The Econo Lodge is a three story hotel located within minutes of the Merle Hay Mall and all other businesses and attractions in the greater Des Moines Area. The hotel features 144 rooms, easy access to all rooms via elevator, all rooms feature either King or Queen beds. The hotel also has Balcony Suites as well as Suites with 2 person hot tubs and a full continental breakfast. This is a pet-friendly hotel. Pet policy, 10.00 per pet, per night. Maximum one pet per room.

There are many motels on this stretch of I-80 within a block. If no other rooms are available, this motel is okay in a pinch, but overpriced for what you get. It’s clean, but dingy. No amenities. The staff might appear "counter-cultural" - not dressed professionally. No coffee makers, irons, hair dryers or anything but a TV in the rooms. It needs some maintenance on the outside to reverse its dumpy appearance.

If there is no alternative then this motel is okay - but it is very sparten and a bit dumpy. Better try the many other motels on the block first. We felt we were overcharged for what we got.

Horrible
This is the worst motel I have ever stayed in. The rooms are filthy with sticky carpet. When I asked for another pillow I was told they didn't have any. The counter people were nasty and rude. Horrible place, don't stay here...

The hotel's location was convenient to the freeway; service was consistent with economy, overnight lodging. Guests should call ahead for reservations to assure availability. They should also select a location in a better area, since some are located
