with a budget, traveling for leisure

I booked this hotel online after seeing their web page, this place was totally

disgusting. Not only was the room filthy and had bugs, the bed was broke, the toilet seat was broke and the bathroom had a distinct odor. After speaking with a manager who was very rude, I asked for my money back which he denied. We left and had to get another hotel.

Where to start...

The 5-acre "waterpark" advertised is a tiny kiddie play area at the hotel next door shared by numerous hotels

The basketball court is one little slab of cement by a dumpster with no rim

The area around the "chalets" which are more like shacks, was covered with trash that blew out of the dumpster and into all the yards

The TV and radio looks like it was purchased in the 1980's and is wooden, or rather has wooden stickers

The room has a "balcony" which is a nailed closed screen door overlooking a gravel parking lot and barbed wire fence

The breakfast, which is at the other hotel, is packed with people

The door in the bathroom doesn't shut, and the bathtub looks moldy

The waterpark opens late and closes early

They put a twin bed blanket on our queen bed so that it hung over the side by one inch

I was awoken to a bug crawling up my arm

The best part of Econo Lodge was the price, but I guess that just goes to show you get what you pay for

I am very likely to return to the Econo Lodge Bayview.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

Our family of five stayed here in August of 2007. This place is not a chalet, it is not a suite, it is a cluster of old cabins. We bailed out after two nights of a

scheduled five night stay. (And that was only because Econo Lodge absolutely

refused to refund our second nights stay!) The two bedroom so-called chalet that we reserved was postage-stamp sized. Carpet was badly stained. Both indoor and outdoor pools, exercise room, game room and breakfast bar were not on the actual premises. They were within walking distance and were shared by other hotels. On a positive note: The Econo Lodge Bayview is very conveniently located to all attractions, Mackinaw Island ferries, shopping and restaurants. If you can afford to stay elsewhere, I recommend that you do so.

But if you're desperate or just need a place to sleep for the night, the Econo Lodge Bayview may be for you.

The advertising for this hotel was very misleading. The indoor water park and breakfast bar were at a hotel next door. The pictures on the website were of the hotel next door and not of the hotel we were actually staying at but there was not any indication on the advertisement or even with our hotel confirmation information that these amenities were at a different location. There was no blow dryer or ironing board in our room, our balcony door was nailed shut because the balcony was rotting away.

We were originally to stay in one of the "chalets", which is a little house (a better word is shack) that is not part of the hotel (which we did not realize when we made the reservation and were never told this, we just thought the chalet was a two-bedroom room in the hotel.) When asked to change rooms the woman "manager" at the front desk was extremely rude and not very accomodating. We drove 10 hours to stay in a nice hotel and were treated very rudely and this was not what we would consider a "nice" hotel at all. The best part of it was the indoor waterpark and breakfast bar that were in the hotel next door. We would not stay here again. We did however really enjoy Mackinaw City.
