I stayed at this hotel in January 2007. Although it is located below a major expressway, the noise levels from the overhead vehicular traffic were not intrusive.
The room was clean and comfortable, and the fan on the interior climate control unit could easily be used to mask any unwanted exterior noise. The front office staff was pleasant and helpful. The neighborhood seemed safe, even at night. A restaurant is located down the street and many other eateries are located nearby in Old Town.
I especially like the fact that by staying here, one could skip the expense associated with renting a car, since the hotel is a short walk from the Old Town Trolley Station and buses that head throughout the region. An all day bus and trolley pass is $ 5.00 and a multi-day pass is available for up to four consecutive days.
While staying at his motel, we utilized the buses and trolleys to visit the zoo (which is fantastic), La Jolla, Balboa Park, downtown, Tijuana, etc.
