Official Hotel Information
A boutique hotel in Manhattan, it occupies a building raised in 1903, the Chemist Club, where all the architectural details have been preserved, including its splendid marble staircase. The classicism of its structure contrasts with a stunning interior decoration, bearing obvious reminiscences from the world of art and culture, an example of work by the Jeffrey Beers studio. Of its 107 guestrooms, the Alchemy Suite is noteworthy, decorated in Gothic style, situated in the attic, recreating a mediaeval alchemist's laboratory. The Dylan Hotel also provides two reception rooms with capacity to house 50 persons, a fully-equipped gym and a grill-restaurant offering a wide variety of culinary tastes and styles and dishes in the new American style in an atmosphere that combines comfort and elegance with a simple but exceptionally good cuisine. The hotel is situated in the hub of midtown Manhattan, close to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), Central Station or Times Square, amongst other tourist attractions. CITY TAX DIRECT PAYMENT AT THE HOTEL: 3,5&36;/DAY DOUBLE LUXURY ROOM OR EXECUTIVE AND 7&36;/DAY JUNIOR SUITE

Dylan Hotel, a 107-room boutique hotel, located former Chemists' Club building at 52 East 41 Street, is setting a new standard for contemporary elegance with a distinctive setting that embraces the future while retaining the best of the past. The 1903 beaux-arts structure has been completely restored, inside and out, at a cost of more than $30 million. The renovation included the restoration of ornate decorative plaster and a marble grand staircase. The interior design of the main lobby features opulent jewel-tone fabrics, organic materials such as American walnut and Carrara marble, and glowing reflective surfaces such as frosted titanium mirrors. The grandeur of Dylan's public areas is evident from the moment one passes through the glass entryway. The intimate lobby area, with its cusotm seating clusters, invites relaxation. In counterpoint to the understated opulence of the hotel's public areas, the corridors and guest rooms of the upper floors have been done in a more muted color palette. Different textures and tones of carpeting, as well as "residential" number plaques and lamps, give a sense of arrival to the rooms. With 11 to 16 foot ceilings, the guest rooms feel more spacious than the average Manhattan hotel room. The design is quiet and tailored without being austere. Warm white and pale blue walls, deep amethyst and steel-blue carpeting, sapphire taffeta drapes and sheers, and custom, ebony-stained furniturecombine to create a tranquil environment. The wall-mounted upholestered headboard, with cantilevered nightstands on either side, also give the effect of floating. The bathrooms are faced white Carrara cut marble and feature Italian-porcelain bowl-style sinks mounted on multicolor granite slabs.

2009 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
Stayed at the Dylan over the weekend and although it 's in a great location (just a few blocks from Grand Central), it is run down and well in need for a renovation. All of the tabletops and cabinetry were scratched and/or showed abrasion marks. Neither of the cabinet doors closed properly. The Executive King was 228 square feet (pretty small, even by NYC standards).
Finally, there was a horrible smell in the lobby which was made worse by the overabundance of air fresheners to compensate. Could be a great place. I hope they choose to update the facility.

I have stayed a total of 13 days in 5 months, it is always a pleasure. Always clean, courteous staff, and excellent location. The best part is the Benjamin Restaurant and Bar downstairs/Next door. Best steaks, awesome wine list, wonderful staff that remembers me everytime I walk in. I will continue to stay every time I am in town, which is 4-5 times a year.

All Review Photos Before moving to New York, I have stayed many a night at NYC hotels, mostly five-star, but I would make an exception here and there with hotels like the Dylan.I learnt about it because it's adjacent to the Benjamin SteakHouse,...

Okay
I am usually not a big fan of "boutique" hotel in general unless I am traveling for pleasure. For business travel, I try to keep surprises to a minimal so I tend to stick with the chains so I know what to expect.

Horrible
Beware that the pictures of this hotel are very deceiving, and do not accurately depict what you see when you get there. First, the main lobby smelled extremely musty - perhaps due to the construction surrounding the facade of the building. ...

I found a great weekend rate at the Dylan for 179.00 per night. You cannot find a boutique hotel near Grand Central for that price! It was chic, it was clean, staff was friendly. The only thing I...

This will be my second and last stay at the Dylan. It has lost its ability to deliver the trendy luxurious experience I remember from my last visit. My room was in total disrepair between the worn carpet, worn and nicked furniture and the mold in...
