This hotel advertised luxury, but there was nothing luxurious about it. People actually lived at the hotel. It was run down, out-dated, dirty, disgusting, and with bad service.
We were in the process of renovating our home. The company we contracted went over our contract completion time and booked us at this hotel. They had no idea. Our mistake was not immediately leaving this hotel the first night. After our stay, we told the company if they wanted to keep a good representation, not to have any of the customers stay there.
The kitchen was most disgusting, we had ants. They sprayed, but they came back. The TV remote was missing and there was this musty smell. The furniture was torn and looked like it was from the 80's. We couldn't open the curtains. The heater unit was cracked. There were no lamps. You cold tell they removed them from the walls and never replaced them. The drywall work was poor (never sanded or repainted). It looked as though renovation on the room was started but not finished.
The people above us made noise all night every night. They was stomping and banging. It turns out, that after a 2 am night of noise, when I went up to knock on their door to tell them to stop the banging, that they were renovating the rooms above us. At 2 a.m.?
There was a $200 pet deposit (Other hotels in the area only charge $10 a night for pet fee). Our keys did not work the first night there. The front desk clerk tells me there is nothing she could do because the manager is out of town. We would have to wait for a passcode, but she would let us in our room if we had to leave. What? That should have been our cue to get out of dodge.
The internet (supposedly high speed and wireless) did not work the entire time we were there. We had to go back to our house to use the internet. My parents had an adjoining room to ours. My mother tried to turn on the stove to cook and it immediately started smoking so bad the alarm came on. There toilet got backed up and they were told to plunger it themselves. The plumber didn't come for 2 days. They had to use our toilet. Now, what if we were not there with them? Who on earth plungers their own toilet for 2 days at a hotel? We didn't live there. The manager's explanation was that it was my parents' responsibility and that she does not have an on call plumber.
I requested to be moved to a different room twice. I left my cell phone number with the desk clerk who said they would call me when a room opened up. I didn't get a call. 2 days later, I went back to the office and was told they "gave the room away". They said they called and left a message with my father. I am a 37 year old woman. You were supposed to call my cell phone, not my father or mother.
The comforter was made of some sort of plastic. The iron fell on the bed and immediately a hole was burned in the spread. They mail your pet deposit back to you or you pick it up. We checked out on a Saturday and I had to come back Monday to get my deposit because the maid service does not work on the weekends. I went all day Monday with no phone call. When I showed up the manager had already left. I get there and the front desk clerk immediately calls the manager. She brings up the comforter, but did not know how much she was going to charge me. She tells me she would take it out of the pet deposit and call me the next day. The pet deposit had nothing to do with the iron burn.
The horror went on. She would not give my pet deposit back until we paid her $75 for the comforter. When we asked her for verification of the price of the spread, she got all irate. She was saying that she doesn't have to explain anything to us and that she didn't have time for our complaints when we brought up our stay there. She said that she gets a lot of complaints (we know why). We told her we had a right to complain about her hotel and as a manager it is her job to hear those complaints and to do something about it. She said she didn't have to listen to us and don't tell her how to do her job. She hung up on me 2 times. She threatened to call the cops. We called the cops first because we had to go back and get our money.
We knew that it would turn out to be a civil suit. We paid the $75. She credited my card back for the pet fee (took 3 days). Mind you, she would only accept cash for the comforter, but took credit card for everything else. She said she did not have to explain why she only accepted cash for the comforter. When I asked the front desk clerk for her name, she would not give it to me. She said that I never complained to her. I saw her write my complaints down in a notebook every time I went to the office. My father complained, too. He told them that they should not rent the rooms out in the condition they are in.
The manager said we were making up all these complaints. If you saw the hotel rooms, you know they weren't made up. She knew this which is why she was never available when we came to the office to complain. She said we could have come to her on her office hours. She was never there. The first week she was "on vacation" according the front desk clerk. The following week she was never there or always on the road.
Avoid this hotel! If I could give it a 0 rating, I would. The have bad manager skills. The hotel should be closed down and renovated. Its a rip off if you ask me.
