member icon Beautiful Grounds. Average Rooms.

55 year old woman with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

The grounds of the hotel are lovely. The room left something to be desired. It was very dark, even mid-day, and had a "prison-feel" to it. The rooms surrounding the pool areas probably have more light in them, but we had trouble finding a spot to read while indoors. Carpeting needed to be cleaned and needed vacuuming! There is a charge to use the fitness center, which we found surprising. The food at the hotel restaurant and lounge is very expensive. We paid close to $60 for two hamburgers and two mixed drinks.

We were required to leave a day early due to a mix-up on our reservation, although we were partly responsible for this.

Bed was quite comfortable. The dresser in our room was broken - two middle drawers were stuck together. Over all - the room was a disappointment.

The hotel has very interesting design and decor. The gardens near all the rooms are very nice. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. I like the bedding they use. The bar and the restaurant are adequate, but not extraordinary.

I am very likely to return to the Doubletree Paradise Valley Resort.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

I had a great time and enjoyed the facilities.

This hotel made me feel respected: I was always treated courteously.

I am somewhat likely to return to the Doubletree Paradise Valley Resort.
I might recommend it to friends.

moviegal226 icon A great location, but not resort-worthy

This hotel has a great location right in Scottsdale and is close to great restaurants, shops, etc. However, I wouldn't call it a true "resort." It is a decent property but is not what you would expect a true resort to be. The hotel is set up "old style" where you park your car outside the rooms, it looks like an old renovated roadside motel.

The room itself was well appointed and extremely comfortable with plush-top mattress and super soft sheets. This was a great hotel for business travelers and I found the work space and desk to be large and comfortable. Note that you do have to pay $15 per day for internet access.

The hotel grounds are lush and tropical with lots of palm trees, grass and fountains. It is nice to take a stroll around outside during the daylight hours. I found the grounds to be lovely in the daytime, but dark and a bit scary at night. As a female traveler, I would not have felt comfortable staying alone at this hotel. There are too many dark nooks and crannies around the property (the stairwells are dimly lit and the rooms are "hidden" in numerous dark, outdoor corridors) and it was just a little scary.

The major downside to this Doubletree is that it hosts many conferences, weddings and special events, so self parking can be a huge problem. The last two times we were guests at this hotel, we had to park on the curbs to get to our room. I think the hotel should have a separate lot or reserved spaces for paying guests. If you have a car, you have to circle the lot and hope to get lucky enough to get a spot. And if you do, it will most likely be quite a hike back to your room.

It has a beautiful design, but confusing pathways to the rooms. The rooms are large and comfortable as were the bedding and work area. The bathroom was dated but adequate. The hotel had a shuttle that went into Old Scottsdale and the Fashion Mall.

I am very likely to return to the Doubletree Paradise Valley Resort.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.
