Doubletree Hotel Tallahassee

This place is a disaster - from reading the reviews here and elsewhere, it is apparent that this hotel has been run down for years and no one cares. It is an embarrassment for the Hilton chain. Stay away for now.

Among other problems in our January 2008 stay --

Someone was in the first room we were given. Ooops.

Carpets throughout the hotel were worn and stained, and dirty!

No stopper in bathroom sink.

Grout was black and dirty all around the bottom of the toilet...ugh!

Heat and A/C did not work. Thermostat was just hanging off the wall.

Wallpaper in room was bubbling all over; must be a water leak somewhere.

Radio / Alarm clock did not work.

Windows leaked - you could hear the traffic all night long and it kept me awake.

And the coup-de-gras - when I opened the coffee maker in the morning to make coffee there was a used coffee filter in it! Double-ugh.

I have stayed there on business six times within the past six months and there was a problem with this hotel almost every time.

Don't stay on the top 16th floor, its way too hot. Don't stay in the "XX01, XX02, XX14" rooms near stairwells and ice machines. Employees slam stairwell doors in the wee hours when delivering newspapers and room bills. Elevators are totally unreliable, very slow and sometimes totally unavailable or get stuck between floors. Why has it taken more than a year to fix them? Most front desk employees are totally indifferent to guest problems. When you voice your concern about a problem they look at you as if you were from Mars.

Some rooms on the 6th floor had a strong mildew odor. Parking is like stuffing your car in a sardine can and then they charge you for it in a city the size of TLH. The breakfast buffet in Jacobs was always cold. The only thing decent was the housekeeping staff. They can't resolve billing problems well either.

I think I'm staying at the Marriott Residence from now on.

Seems to be the norm for Doubletree to double charge as with previous reviewers, I would like a reply from them much less a refund, looks like I will have to have Visa void the double charges as appears Doubletree won't respond, stayed 2 nights, zero ventilation in the bathroom, sometimes hot water sometimes not, walls were wet running with condensation, temperature outside was around 90 but had to ware an overcoat in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner and complaints fell on deaf ears. I do business in Tallahassee but won't be staying in Doubletree again.

We were there for a funeral. It was a nice hotel for the price.

Everything was wonderful. We had a problem with the billing. It took many calls and a trip to Tallahassee to get it resolved but everyone was nice and very helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

This hotel made me feel secure: The staff noticed everyone who entered and acknowledged them.
