40 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for business
I had a conference to attend at the Doubletree, and so had no other practical choice for a hotel in Houston (I did not rent a car). I arrived in Houston at 6:30 AM after a 12 hour flight from Honolulu, I called and asked if they would let me check in ... they DID!
The public areas and conference rooms at this hotel are quite pleasant. The corridors are very long and dark. The rooms are nicely sized, although my particular room had a tiny little window with a view of a loading dock.
I was underwhelmed by the housekeeping staff (I found a dead apple behind the nightstand when I went to plug in my cell phone charger; gross). They didn't service my room until some time after noon on the second day I was there. Conversely, however, I found the desk staff and the bell staff to be friendly, helpful, and even willing to go out of their way.
Room service was really the only dining option for the car-less late in the evening. The selection is not stupendous, but I found a reasonably good salmon salad.
I would probably return if I had occasion to be in Houston ... but I might also search out other options as well. It was certainly not an unpleasant experience ... it just seemed like some attention to detail was lacking.

Hotel staff was extremely nice and welcoming. The room and bathroom was immaculately clean. Located conveniently next to the airport, with a free shuttle departing every 30 minutes. Shuttle drivers were also VERY nice.
