Doubletree Hotel Del Mar

Let's get down to it. When you're traveling you want 2 things, a nice clean room, and respectable service. The Doubletree in Del Mar IS the hotel where you can kick back, relax, and know you're in good hands. I was there on vacation in October, by the second day there were fires raging around the San Diego area including Del Mar. The staff and the management were checking people in left and right, all very aware of what was going on and what the worst case scenario could be, the mandatory evacuation of the hotel. Well of course the hotel is evacuated and the staff handled it perfectly. They even offered us a place to stay. Need I say more?

The staff was extremely helpful with directions and printing map quest maps. The hotel was very nice and we enjoyed our stay.

This hotel made me feel respected: They were helpful and responded to requests.

There were no restaurants close by.

It has a pleasant location, near to shopping and services, and interesting travel destinations. This is primarily a business hotel, and we felt that there was little on site where services were oriented to vacation travelers. We experienced a problem with the in-room internet service via the cable television system, as I was not able to access my e-mail. I called the desk to make sure the charges were reversed, and was guaranteed by the desk that this would be done. However, I still had to deal with this issue at checkout, and again work with the front desk to get this charge removed from my bill.
