I have never written a bad review for any hotel out of all of my travel experiences. However, this hotel definately tested me and I felt the need to write this review to warn people of this very poorly managed location. First of all, good luck getting any answers over the phone before you arrive. Calls go unanswered and when you can get a person on the phone, they have no knowledge and are No Help at all and will not go out of their way to find help. Upon check in, on a weekend of an international event in Detroit, the front desk made everyone wait until their 3pm check in time. People were standing in the lobby for over 30 minutes and were lining up out the door! Their restaurant did not open until 6pm and reservations were not accepted because they were already full. So we ate at the bar, and the food was good but very pricey. Our bartender had to leave to work a wedding and asked us upon delivering our food if we could clear our bill ASAP. We did, unfortunately, we were ignored by the replacement bartender and received no further service, so we left after 20 minutes of waiting for a night cap. The hotel is very nice and so was the room. However, the employees in all areas were just plain lazy and did not want to help at all, even when asked. We asked for a late checkout (3pm), which was automatic for all people staying that night, for the international event taking place. Unfortunately, we were locked out of our room when we returned from the event. I had to go to the front desk and ask to get back in our room, after being interrogated about why I needed the late checkout! Needless to say, at this point, I was pretty well fed up and not happy with this hotel. They had a major event in town that weekend and this hotel had no clue and was far from prepared. They were sending people off the street up to vending machines inside the hotel because they do not have a gift shop. Security came to mind, of course. I have more issues that I could write. Now does this sound like a place you would like to spend your money at for a stay?? Doubletree/Hilton Hotels are recognized for preeminent hospitality - sorry, but my experience was far lower than I have ever experienced.
