female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
We had a family reunion at Doublehead in Townsend Al summer of 2009. The staff was courteous, though was not aware they had a kid fountain when we asked to turn it on. The two 3 bedroom cabins we rented were nicely furnished overlooked a lake with their own dock. The rental costs of the pontoon boats $144 for 2 hours plus gas was outrageous. We last stayed at Big Canoe in northen GA and their pontoon rental was $35 for 1/2 day. Both kitchens lacked sufficient cooking supplies (pots, utensils, glasses, etc.) We had to run everything through the dishwashers before we used them as they were filthy and purchase plasticware at the local Foodtown. Both hammocks were broken. One of the rocking chairs was broken, they did replace it within an hour of being notified. This is a beautiful place that has great potential, however, it is overpriced for what it is currently offering.
