Large resort yet secluded feel

Our family of 5 has stayed at Port Orleans Riverside (specifically the Alligator Bayou section) on 4 or 5 different occasions. Although some people do not like the distance to the food courts we find it to be our favorite part of the resort. The winding pathways are filled with beautifully themed buildings, dense natural landscaping and yet, even during the busiest summer months it still maintains a secluded feel. Vacations are meant to be relaxing and this resort will not disappoint. No sounds of traffic and plenty of native bird sounds, rustling waters, and a nice mix of sunshine/shade add to the experience of the "Bayou" feel. The rooms, though on the small side, have never bothered our family (2 adults, 2 teens, 1 child) as we really never spend much time in the room except to bathe and sleep. The multiple quiet pools are simply that....quiet, and the larger community pools are more crowded and busy. The quiet pools also have a small laundry building so that your family can swim while you do laundry. You don't often find the quiet pool area being too noisy or crowded and once again they are hidden amongst the back drop of dense trees and landscaping. This resort is a hidden gem and it would be quite a challenge to find another hotel with this particular "feel" at such a major vacation destination.
