The Walt Disney World resorts in general are primarily for visitors to the Walt Disney World theme parks, but I feel that some of these, like the Port Orleans Resort, are a valid resort destination in themselves. The room is well laid out, with the bathroom in back with a separate dressing area and a privacy curtain that allows one to get dressed outside of a steamy shower area. The room comes with a refrigerator and a coffeepot, large, soft towels, open closet, and good drawer storage. The resort itself has a good food court type restaurant that is visually appealing and not crowded. It is a pleasant place to have lunch or a snack. There is also a very good table service restaurant. The resort has bus transportation to all four theme parks and both water parks, along with a water launch transport to the sister resort, Port Orleans French Quarter and Downtown Disney. There are several quiet pools on the property, but the main pool is like a mini water park. It is very large, heated, has a huge water slide, water fountain spray area, a kiddie pool, and a hot tub. The theme is Rural Louisiana, with a Southern antebellum mansion side, and a more rustic Alligator Bayou side. The theme is very detailed and accurate, with architecture, costumes, landscaping, and music all blending in to create a realistic experience. There is a canal, Sassacagoula River, which offers boating and free boat excursions to Downtown Disney and the sister resort, Port Orleans. Other entertainments offered are numerous wooded walking trails, bike rentals, and a horse drawn carriage excursion. Round trip airport transfers are free with your hotel stay, and Disney even picks up your checked bags and delivers them to your room without tipping required. There are only two negatives. They have the most sandpapery toilet paper I have ever used and there are no decent television options.
This hotel made me feel content: The serene landscaping and the lovely walking trails made for a good feeling.
